stephen nicolson
my freewheel still clicks but not as loud as it should be anyone know how to sort it ?
Miles Mallinson
What freewheel is it? If its a cheap one then theres not much point but if its decent then if you don't want it to last as long, take the lockring off and take all the grease out of it. It will make it louder but will wear quicker. So what would you prefere spending £40 or having a loud freewheel?

dann2707
Oh yeh there is that but wear a mask, GT85 is heavy stuff. It's only like wd-40 - a maintenance spray! And you'll want to be directing the hose that comes with it into all the little cracks and crevices where the freewheel rotates. Easy as Edited October 24, 2011 by dann2707

Mark W
Either GT-85 or thin chain oil will do the trick. Have you ridden in the wet lately?
weirdoku
I don't get why people want a loud freewheel. If it engages fine then there's nothing wrong with it. Unless you like to hear the freewheel engage, I could feel each click in my legs when I rode so never bothered about how loud my freewheel was. Mark W
It is often a sign that all's not well with a freewheel to be fair, but if your freewheel's working well and is only a little quieter than normal that's not the end of the world... Mark W
Cool - from the factory they have no real lube in them, so if they get wet they can sometimes rust up a tiny bit if they're left wet. That means they don't work quite as well, hence it being a bit quieter. A bit of lube in there should get it back up and running again
Miles Mallinson
It's only like wd-40 - a maintenance spray! I got a pretty bad head ache from using it once but that was proberly because it was in a small room and it does smell quite nice. aener
Stick a little microphone next to it, an amp inside the front triangle and whack some sick-ass 6x9s on your bars.
Object
Stick a little microphone next to it, an amp inside the front triangle and whack some sick-ass 6x9s on your bars. Wouldn't 5x7s be lighter?
aener
Wouldn't 5x7s be lighter? Ah - yeah. Fair shout. I forgot they made them - just 6x9s are so much more common I guess.
Azarathal
I've always found my freewheel to be a lot louder when it's been drowned in GT85, then it gradually gets quieter until I drown it again. It's kept in my car and I dont ride in the wet so it's rather confusing. It all works well though

Hummmmmmmmmm hot box with gt-85 ive never tried this. And in fairness if you use wf40/gt 85 your freewheel goes pretty quiet In my experiance Edited November 2, 2011 by Dave Anscombe
