kaybs41282
Can you take the Heatsink material out of a plastic backing and put it into the correct aluminium backing? If yes what's the best method? Thanks Chris
isitafox
Yes, I just prised mine out with a flat screwdriver. You'll wreck the plastic backings but I wouldn't worry too much!
kaybs41282
Cool and do you need to glue them in somehow?
Sam T
Cool and do you need to glue them in somehow? Yeah, by putting super glue into the backing and pushing them in lol. But i dont usually bother with glue. Phat pads are actually designed so you dont have to glue them in. Shame they're shite though.
WIGAN ??
best way to get them out of plastic backings is soak them in boiling water to soften up the glue and prise them out with a flathead, if the backing is the same brand as the pad it should just slot in no bother but if you're mixing up different pads and backings you will need to trim them and super glue them in
kaybs41282
Anyone know of any heatsink backings that are for sale? The ones I had in mind are gone (

err
i've got a set of these on my bike, apparently they fit heatsink refills http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CNC-trials-backings-Magura-pads-/250851793175?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a67ee9917#ht_1094wt_1187 i'm using the soft refills he does as well, they seem on par with the heatsink blues i tried
kaybs41282
Cool, the soft one ok with a grind?
err
i don't ride much but after about 3 hours use they've barely worn at all, i think i prefer them to the heatsinks to be honest! oh yeah, meant to say i run them on a fairly light grind
kaybs41282
Oh cool, just bought the backings so might try the refills when the heatsinks die Is the general consensus that they are good then? Never heard much about them
TryAllTrials
Also if you do need to trim them and say you need to take 2mm off each of the ridges take 1mm form either side and not 2mm from one side if that makes sence, If you don't then either the inner or outer parts of the ridges won't fit the backings and you will have ruined your pads. You can use the excess rubber you have cut off to make them fit propprely again but thats abit dodgy,
