TheCaptain
So I'm going to Edinburgh in about a month, mainly because I'm thinking of studying there and want to check it out. Is there anything special I should check out ? P.S I'm staying there for 3 days.

AndrewEH1
Hey, If you are only going to visit Edinburgh I would recommend visiting a few things: Edinburgh Castle (it is pretty expensive to get it, due to Historic Scotland wanting to rip off American Tourists, but might be worth a visit if that's your sort of thing.) Arthur's Seat (I think this is a must! Takes about 30mins to walk up if you are taking it slowly, It offers some great views of the capital, great at sunset. There is a proper path up it so you won't get lost!) Calton Hill (Another one of the seven hills of Edinburgh, offers some more great views of Edinburgh, some awesome views at sunset) Royal Mile/Holyrood Palace/Parliament (You will eventually walk it whether you mean to or not, it runs from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament. If history is your thing Holyrood Palace is good but again admission prices can be a bit much. The Parliament is free to enter.) There are a few museums and galleries in Edinburgh that you might want to view if that's your kind of thing, most of them are free to get into although there may be a special gallery that you will have to pay admission for.) The night life is pretty good, Glasgow certainly has more variety (but Edinburgh is a bit less stabby). You can easily just spend the day walking about Edinburgh checking out the sites. When are you visiting? There may be a seasonal event that you might be able to catch if you come at the right time of year. Where are you thinking of studying at?

There may be a seasonal event that you might be able to catch if you come at the right time of year. My flight leaves the 27'th of November. Where are you thinking of studying at? I want to study the practical side of film. I've found one course in the Edinburgh Napier University, but it might be to be advanced for me to even get it, I'm not quite sure yet. Since we have different grading systems in Sweden. And I've looked around in a few different universites aswell, such as St.Andrews, Aberdeen and Ayr. If anyone could contribute with any ideas for film courses it would be much appreciated. Edited October 16, 2011 by TheCaptain

Matthew_Gibson
Edinburgh is a city i really love! had a few nights out up there with the old boy. we stayed up by murry field and walked into town for a meal. then headed for nydri street, just to see a few bands, went to the brew dog pub, had some proper drink in there and by that point i cant remember a thing due to my dad getting me drunk!! but i could walk around the place for ages, really want to take a look round the castle. whats it like for a lads night out?
