26 Or 24

I am nervous I'll lose height and distance

That's the only thing stopping me from changing over too. I loose a significant amount of height and distance on a mod. Can't see why it'd be the other way round with a 24".

In all fairness I think that on rocks a 24" being slightly shorter and more flicky could be the better ride. For TGS, not necessarily.

Exactly same mate I am nervous I'll lose height and distance

Try telling that to Ben Savage ;) Saw him riding a Kabra 24"er at Porthcawl a while back and he was doing some mental stuff on it.

Going back to what's "wrong" with a 26 - I just find the overall bike feels quite sluggish and slow. All the trialsy 24s I've ridden haven't felt like that, so I think if I went 'pure trials' again I'd go for something like the Echo. If tyre and rim choice was better it'd be a no-brainer. Viz have got a new single wall rear 24" rim coming out so that's one of the bases covered, but tyres are still a bit questionable.

Ive had an echo 24 and they are really good. You definately need to run a 150 stem on them atleast though.

The thing about height and stuff i have just gone to a mod from always riding stock and i think its a mental thing as things look bigger when your on the backwheel but there easier to hop higher if that makes sense.

Get used to it and you will be golden.

People seem to really love the 24'' Big betty tyre and I don't no why?.

I had one but never got on with it, always felt to weak in the side walls and rolled about while on anything of camber. Adding more pressure and it lost it bounce / spring. Also the weak side walls caused a few pinch flats + managed to rip 3 lumps of tread of it some how.

Running a high roller at the moment which is ok but heavy and the grip could be better, might try a Swamp thing next.

If Conti could make a 24'' de kaiser then I'd buy one tomorrow :)

From my view from years ago before 24's became popular... I always saw it as a bike which met halfway for a riders height/build whether they was too big for mod or small for stock. But now it tends to be personal preference really as any build seems to ride any size bike now.

In my time i have rode 3x 24"s

1st onza zoot- It felt horrible to be fair it felt like someone put a onza t-rex in a tumble dryer for the way it rode.

2nd- Modern zoot- It felt ok nice and flicky for doing little tricks and spins.

3rd- Damons old Ozonys unruly 24" ( Which billocks now has) I felt this bike rode awesome... Felt like a average TGS style bike but in 24" form..

Seeing these 24" echos sell at a good price is also very tempting.. Just to have as a spare bike and also try out the 24" scene.

Back in the days of 03-04 there wasnt really many 24s around at the time from what i can remember i think cannondale did one which lance ( guy from tricks n stunts dvd) had one, Ashton edd tongue, onza zoot and if i remember rightly there was a few curtis frames which people used as a 24.

But since the day Inspired started and the danny mac videos were released. 24" has got a lot more popular on the trials scene. But a lot of the 24s were based on a streety/bmx style bike but now a lot of manufacturers have started doing TGS style 24's such as echo and ozonys.

I suppose its personal preference for which you wanna choose.

I suppose with any bike you can " Make it suit" for yourself i.e. changing parts on a later to customise to your standard to make it ride nice or for yourself.

Had a shot of duncans echo was nice almost like a mod but bigger wheels so im sold

I used to ride 26 but the geos were terrible back then 1080, +10, 390 hard work and then swapped to mod for a few years and never got on with small wheels, 24 is way forward for me best of both worlds if i was taller i would of stuck to 26 defo prefer bigger wheels on mod everything feels massive and more futery and less flowy, just depends on your 26 geo suits you
