DYAKOV
Hi there guys, I've been offered an extremely cheap Onza Rip 2010 frame and am thinking of getting it.. but is it possible to put 19" rear wheel on the frame without having any problems with the brakes?! trials owns
Im pretty sure that a 19inch wont fit
Rockman
No they cant fit 19" wheels, as the brake mounts would be in the wrong place because the frame is made for a rear 20" wheel.
Jake.
Nah it won't fit, I had an Onza rip as my first bike and changed to a Zoo Python because it didn't fit a 19" wheel due to where the brake mounts are.
DYAKOV
yeah, I know that but thought if I shorten the chain as much as possible and move the wheel forward.. but obviously it wont fit. thank you guys! the offer was just 'non refusal' - 40 pounds for frame, headset, bashplate, chain including postage.. so what do u think about putting an echo front rim as rear wheel? would it work and would it be strong having in mind that Im not newbie.. Pure
I got my onza t-pro frame with onza 4bolt forks and headset included for £40, hang around on the forums and wait for something better to come up if you really need a 19 on the rear
BrodieBiking
Yes, you can put a 19" rim (47mm) on the 2010 RIP frame... Of course with a little modification (not to the frame). The tire does not rub, you have a lot of room on that. To do so, you would have to move the wheel as close as you can get to the front of the dropouts so that the wheel is still straight. You will have to break the chain. Another problem is that you can't run HS33's because the 47mm rim wont fit between the brakes. So how i fixed this was to build a custom booster with built in mounts. The booster has the lower magura mounts built in, and we also have the top caps for either side. Here's a pic of the bike with the 19" wheel. I will post pics with the custom mount later, if you guys are interested. http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/7652869/ Cheers!
