lankyri
i used to run maggy on the rear for ages then bought my leeson and it came with a rear vee and ill be honest there just as good and im some areas there even better, my advice to you if you do go rear vee try and get a decent booster as you may find that you could easily clip the caliper with your shoe and possible braking the vee, also id get a decent cable im running a goodridge inner and outer cable and had any problems since ive had the bike 2years now also i used to run a sd7 on the rear but it exploaded and now im running a sd5 and it works just as good with the same pads and booster hope this helps
Paul pedal whore
Spot on mate.what boosters you using? And what pads? My rims have been grinded aswell. Thanks
lankyri
im using a shimano (sp) carbon booster with heatsink snowy pads in cnc backing on a smooth rim, very nice without tar (it holds but less bite so u can use the brake whislt manueling) or a dap of tar and it holds just like a maggy would with a grind, another good thing is that your brakes wont freeze if you have a maggy and water bleed
Paul pedal whore
I'm Abit lost after the pads lol.I will give a cable v a go.with some good pads and booster and see how I get on cheers for the info
kaybs41282
They aren't as responsive as a nice water bled Maggy so I changed back from vee... But that was just personal preference. Got the complete works here (sd7 caliper used twice from brand new and a packaged linear slic cable plus everything else) , let me know if you get stuck and we can sort something out. PM if interested! Edited October 12, 2011 by kaybs41282
Scott Gibbs
I love mine! One thing i will say is buy a QUALITY cable. A linear cable is what im running a sound investment i would say!!
Ali C
They aren't as responsive as a nice water bled Maggy so I changed back from vee... But that was just personal preference. I actually think the opposite, a vee can be much easier and smoother to pull than even a water bled maggie.

Luke Rainbird
Low spring tension, well lubed cable and a decent lever should do the trick
WIGAN ??
the thing is with the low spring tension i find it makes the lever feel sloppy and just generally not nice Edited October 12, 2011 by WIGAN ??
Matt Vandart
I concur, vees are win, get some rockman cnc pads and yer onto a winner (as well as slic cable or those shimano outer on tarty bikes)
Luke Rainbird
If you've got a decent lever it shouldn't do? Take all the tension off, set up the brake then slowly increase tension to give the feel you're after
WIGAN ??
yeah i think ill take it all to bits and give it a good service the arms haven't even been touched since i put them on like 18 months ago :| the levers fine though its an sd7 and its fairly new, sorry for kinda stealing your topic paul Edited October 12, 2011 by WIGAN ?? Ali C
I swear by Shimano SP5 cable, I got the smoothest feeling with that cable. I did have the spring tension pretty low, the lever didn't "snap" back to position like a Magura, but this is part of the reason for me liking vee's, I find the spring tension on Maguras too much and get bad arm pump when riding comps.
