Never snapped mine but you get a lot of stiff links in them, keep it oiled and it would reduce it. already running a kmc and this snapped, will go back to kmc if no better no fussed about weight thanks thomas
stuie
I had the same problem ( Only chain I could get was another kmc.
ezgonzo
i'm using this chain @ the mo with a rohloff My link, seems fairly decent for the price. even though it's only a 3/32" i had to ditch the snap link and connect the chain the old fashioned way with a chain tool as the link kept getting snagged on the tensioner arm as it went round the first jockey wheel, it was fine after it had gone round the first wheel though so you could space it out with a washer if you really wanted to run it with the snap link. hope that helps ez. tdubz
so the tank chain through a rohloff is a no go???
Mark W
Pretty much. They're just way too wide. How old was your snapped chain?
tdubz
Yeah schoolboy error on my part mark was nearly year old. Which one from tarty do u suggest in terms of strength? Not fussed about colour etc and price not an issue
Mark W
Either Z510HX or Z610HX. Probably the 610 for chain clearance with your tensioner. If you replace them a bit more frequently it should be fine. All chains are going to break at some point, so you've just got to beat them to it... Its the only chain I haven't broken and its a decent weight. You can predict when a chain will snap usually. Once you buy them they stretch and then stop stretching for quite some time, and when they are loose enough to put a 1 tooth larger cog from the second stretch they will potentially snap. I did snap a 510 but after 2.5 years of riding, where as other ones just broke in a couple months without stretching the second time and no fair warning Edited October 3, 2011 by sayshell
