Joshm1991
Hey y'all!! Its payday shortly and I want to upgrade my rear pads on my Phase 1.2.. Only thing is, theres so freakin many to choose from!! I'll start with the basics of what I have!! Maggie HS33 (Obviously) Standard mounts Echo 4 bolt booster SMOOTH Alex DX32 rim I was looking at the new BBB Tie Fighters earlier as they were cheap, looked funky and Tarty said they'd be good on a smooth rim but after reading a review just before, I don't think I'll bother!! I just want to know what you guys think are the best for smooth rims that would give good bite and a nice loud noise!! (always wanted my brakes to do that!!) Got a budget of about 20 quid but maybe more if there is a strong reccomendation!! Cheers in advance guys and gals!! Joosh

Joshm1991
Cheers for the quick reply!! Do you know what they are like on a smooth rim?? Just I'm finding it getting my hands on a grinder!! :/ Otherwise I'd have just ground the rim really harshly and bought loads of crappy cheapo standard pads from Halfords and wore the s**t outta them!! Cheers again Joosh Edited September 24, 2011 by Joshm1991
bike_dummie
i used onza citrus pads on a smooth rim, i found they were VERY loud and had rather good performance on a smooth rim, they are £7 a pair from rock and roll bikes (free postage). Flames35
Josh, I know I am new here but just install yellow pads with CNC backs from Hearsink. Awesome stopping power and they squeal like a pig.
Blake
Rockman greens or heatsink yellows, yellows if you have tar...
Pete.M
I'm using old Zoo! pads on the same smooth rim, I can't fault them. See if you can get them from tf members, maybe JT! or Ares still have some for sale...
Jamie_Trials
Phatpads with metal backings are £20, bit of tar or when you get the chance to grind and you're on for a winner

isitafox
Heatsink yellows on a smooth rim any day of the week though they do not work whatsoever the second your rims gets wet! Also beast when you get a grind!
Joshm1991
Thanks for all the replys!! So do the heatsink yellows work on smooth rims just as good as ground rims?? Just on Tarty, it doesnt say owt about smooth rims.. :/ Also, I'd like a pad that would work just as good in the wet as they do in the dry (I know that'll never happen!!) so I'm considering going for the onza citrus pads suggessted before!! Just on the simple idea that they have those water run out thingys cut into them!! Keep the suggesetions coming!! isitafox
The yellows are amazing on a smooth rim, I only got a grind as I (attempt to) ride in comps which can sometimes get a bit wet though I'd say it's worth getting some if you plan on getting a grind in the future as well. onza1
I use citrus pads were amazing first 2 months then went a bit shitty!! Rock n roll bikes do 2 pairs for £11 so not bad really, think CNC backed pads are you bet bet on smooths
