Koxx Rims

Todd, calm down u dick, There is no point in going off at him like that, just notify him politly that there is a search function on this forum and that this topic has come up before...

Anyway, Justin.L, I use the koxx rim on the rear and I love it, I will not use any other rim, I have the new 47mm wide one sitting in my room ready to be laced, even if I did get it for free.

I would not go near the front version of this rim however, I have just totalled the one that came on my koxx, they are crap, now I need a 32 hole hub and a new rim, because they gave me a 28 hole when I bought the bike.

Anyway, if u are in the market for a new rear rim, give the koxx a shot, if its built well it will last, hope this helped.

Alex

If you'd asked this question a few months ago everyone would have laughed, and been like "wide rims are cheese and poo".

But as things go, the forum trend has changed and now all the mavic people are running these "wide cheese rims" and think they are ace.... :'( *sigh* lol

Anyway, I used to run one on 26" (koxx rim) and I thought it was poor, it used to come out of true allot, and flex like hell. Oh and all dirt and shit would get in the holes and be a pain in the ass to get out.

If you are going to get one at least get a good build.

mine was a factory build from koxx and it has been fine, I have had to true it a bit, and occasionly a spoke or two would come completly loose but really its fine. I was never a mavic man, ive had this rim for over 6 months and by no means am I very smooth. give it a go I say

The power of the TARTâ„¢

I however do find the rim a little flexy, like all cheeze rims are. Hower I am prepared to live with this minor fault due to its wideness allowing silly low tyre pressures to be used :'(

plus it looks pretty

ive had the rim since the bike show, and its been fine.

I have the older, 40mm one, and bought it laced up on to an xc from bikedock, its needed a few trueings, but not many.

pros: alows lower tyre pressures.

. gives (imo) a better trye profile

. runs in a koxx lb

. comes in loads of colours

. you can make it look cool by having coloured electrical tape (rim tape) :-"

cons: heavier

. slightly more expensive.

. in some peoples experience, not as strong, but I wouldnt know, as ive never broken a rim :'(

:D

Err keeping to topic, the 20" ones seem ok so I would think 26" ones are too?!
