AndrewG
Well as topic name says I´ve got problem with my new chain. it´s the same size and nearly same model as I had before(KMC Z610 HX) and now I´ve got KMC 510HX. tarty says that 610´s are 3/32 and mine 510 is 1/8 but they looks same so I think they both are 1/8. but it´s not problem I think because chain fitted on sprocket and freewheel perfectly. I´ve got vertical dropouts so I´ve got sprung home made chain tensioner but it works perfectly too. Chain skipping on rear sprocket. I had the same problem before when I bought 3/32 chain but as I can see now it wasn´t problem. Chain is now little shorter than was old one (because of stretch) and that´s should be better but it´s not. Any ideas what can help me ? planet x alan
Sounds like either there's not enough tension on the tensioner spring, or you may need a new sprocket.
Pete.M
I have this problem too. Plenty tension, plenty chain wrap, aligned fairly well, good quality chain and sprocket, but it still occasionally skips/jumps. I'm at a loss with it. I can only think that I need to change the tensioner in some way, perhaps run the chain under both wheels? Less chain wrap but I know it worked for one person on here... WIGAN ??
my chain clunks onto my sprockets rather than sinking smoothly onto them, i think thats just down to me having a new chain and old sprockets though

AdamR28
I would say chain wrap, but you could try flipping the rear sprocket over to check it's not tooth wear (if there is enough space for the chain to fit).
AndrewG
I will try it for now thanks well it was because of tooth wear. I flipped a sprocked and it´s working perfectly now. big thanks adam! Edited September 22, 2011 by AndrewG
Crtd
I had similar problems back than. It should be a worn-out sprocket. Buy a new one one or a tensioner which can make more chain links contact with the sprocket.
