JD™
I don't know how well they'd hold in place, mainly because of the random shape of the inside of the backings... That's what I was thinking, but like I said I've never done it so know precisely bugger all on the subject. Probably never running a magura again anyway - marino brakeless and when I get my 24 it'll be dual disc.
Laurence--Trials
Okay so my first ride wasn't very long or good with them, i HATE bedding in pads so after about half an hour riding around with the brake on and still no luck went home and filed the first layer of the pad off and reset them up square. Doing that made them a fair bit better but still not amazing by any means. However i did have a bit of luck with them every now and then but considering i only had a 45min-hour ride i can see them being a quite good pad in the future. I much prefer the feel of an alu' backed pad as i've never used one before and my brake was REALLY flexy so this made it a little stiffer (the flex probally isn't helped by the really soft compound of the pad. Will keep updating as i use the pad more..
Laurence--Trials
Been for another hour ride with them i really don't think they're up to the job, in my opinion they should be run on a light to medium grind and i intend on keeping my rim smooth. I'm selling these pads for £8 posted on my for sale topic if anyone is interested.

AnthonyNuttall
just got these pads my self, thought they would be better than the standard hs33 pads but found they are no where near as good, i run a medium grind on my rim and they just slip like iv got butter on my rim, gone bk to the original pads now looking for a softer compound pad that will stop and hold me, grrrr i need a disc brake 26in frame again,

Those tie fighter pads don't sound like a pad for grinds from what this thread says.
Laurence--Trials
I've never got along with heatsink yellows, i've tried CNC backed yellows, plastic backed yellows and yellows in a vee, none seem to work for me. Both on and off a grind with and without tar.
bing
for the record, the Bbb tie fighters and the neon 2012 tie fighters are completely different in compound and shape. the neons only use the tie fighter backing. the compound is like heatsink red
