Azarathal
Heya guys, cleaned calipers, brand new pads and rotor, touch of water on the discs to help bed them in and they squeak / honk like crazy. Sounds similar to a contaminated brake but only happens when wet and they are still bedding in. Are these brakes just noisy when wet? Or shall I wait until they've bedded in more? I put water on mine few week back and they did this, its normal. Mine stoped after about 1hour ride
wilf
Just ride along with your brakes on, heat them up like crazy and they will stop making the noise. When they stop making the noise stop and put more water on them and do that like four times, then they will sweet and giving you maximum power. matt rushton
Are they Vented?? If they only do it when wet then thats fine. Edited September 30, 2011 by matt rushton
Azarathal
Yeah they're vented, kinda dissapointing though because its a really loud squeel and the rear brake goes to shit at the same time. I imagine somehow I've contaminated newpads / rotor / brake despite being stupidly careful. Not much bite or hold on the rear still and when it slips it makes a growling noise. Front is amazing, only problem is that my wheel is built 2x and flex's like a fanny.
JD™
I really really think you should consider not using discs anymore. You clearly can't set them up right, because every set you have had results in a topic here about them being shit even though you're 'stupidly careful'. The fact I own one of these 'shit' brakes and it performs like a beast without even being 'stupidly careful' with it is kind of testament to that. Seriously, consider maguras or vees, or brakeless. 2x, as mentioned a few times in previous topics, is absolutely fine for discs - if it's flexy then it's the build quality, not the type of build. Azarathal
I'm not saying the brake itself is shit, just the performance is, my front discs have always been amazing, I just have no luck with rear It's a lot better now, can be temperamental at times but I've moved my reach in and I'm getting more power out of it. As for the front wheel all the spokes are tight and the wheel is still true after 3-4months use, trying controlled stops it flex's and shudders a bit, might be forks flexing though.
