Mark W
So, a bit of a random one... If you're out being filmed/filming, when do you think a clip is 'done'? Just curious to see people's ideas about it really. For example, if you ride away from a trick/line without dabbing/crashing, would you go back and do it again if you knew that you'd done some correction hops or scabbed something? It's something I've always noticed when watching videos so I was just interested to see how people do what they do. EDIT: Obviously if it's something massive you wouldn't want to necessarily go back and do it again, but I mean more sort of every-day filming, not necessarily 'Get ready to dial 999' sort of stuff. Martin Reynolds
I think you've already hit the nail on the head. If its something relatively small or easy to do, I usually go back to see how smooth I can get it. However if its something hench, im usually happy to do it, get it on film and not injure myself. G_!
uff.. really I need many attempts to be happy with the thing i'm filming...i think i'm not a great rider but i always try to get good moves, usually they are too difficult for my level so i have to do many attempts...sometimes(always really) when i'm filming a difficult movement i require a lot of time to do it and i have to change the battery when i'm filming..all battery is discharged for only one move..i think my camera is wishing holidays haha... I always find things i dont like and i have to film the same move many times with many views. I try to correct the style and the mini hops to get it more smooth....but usually i dont get to be happy with the things i've filmed...frustrated is my second name haha Edit: just i read my post...looks i don't enjoy filming..but yes, i do Edited September 14, 2011 by G_! bikeperson45
I'm working on a video at the moment and I'm doing stuff over and over again. I intentionally go out to 'rehearse' lines that I want so hopefully when I get a camera out I get it relatively quickly, especially when I know it's way above my level. Annoying thing with filming is it takes ages to get it right and I don't want to run out of battery.
wolf_rt
I've been watching a lot of vids, and i think i have noticed something that the best ones have in common.. Rythem... Many of the best 'looking' riders, seem to move to internal music. the correction hops and whatnot don't look bad, because there 'in time'. I don't mean necessarily that the riding is in time to the video music or anything.. but that would be cool... perhaps film yourself riding while listening to the 'video song' over and over ?? I also like to see the full follow through of each move in the vid.. ie the rider completely recovers from each move before the cut. I know that somethims you land an awesome move then fall over 1 second later.. fair enough.. but where possible include the full recovery, as it adds to a sense of completeness/smoothness. Matthew_Gibson
I film myself, So its hard to get "flow" in my videos, its more one gap, on to the next bit. When I do film. I've doin the same line many times before hitting the REC button so I know I can do it 1st time. I do the same move, but from different angles. But things don't always work our, but failed attempts can help fill up the video. Its okay for street vids, But when trying to a good natty section done can be a pain!
