leemekeetja
Good day, gents ! So, my Avid Code 5 doesn't have much hold. Im thinking of changing the brake for a better one. I could get a Avid Elixir 2011 for 75 Eur. And im talking about the rear brake on a mod, got a 160mm hope rotor. Any advice/comments on the Elixir would be great, specially from people who have personal experience with them. Thanks in advance.
bike_dummie
I thought the code 5 was the heavy duty line of the avid range? If it is the elixir wont be as good as the code.

bike_dummie
then as ghost rider says your doing something wrong. Try setting the brake up so that the disc is dead in the middle of the pad.

Scott Gibbs
Not really. I wont ever use a hope brake again. 4 different brakes in different applications and they were all shit!!!
Azarathal
Go for the shimano deore M596, they are amazing. Coming from a guy that went from magura blacks anything would be amazing, didnt you mention it was already starting to slip?
Krisboats
Go for the shimano deore M596, they are amazing. You'd have to be an idiot to buy one of those when just over a fiver more will get you one of these. If you're wanting uncompromising stopping power though, this will beat any avid, hayes, hope (so long as it's not a mono trial) on power. Revolver
Most brakes would if they had 1 metre discs. Oh, it's the hose length. That's not as funny any more. Edited September 13, 2011 by Revolver

leemekeetja
Finally got my hope rebleeded and new pads fitted on. Works good, still bedding in. I hope it will get as good as my avid once was, when the pads have bedded in.
