Back Peddling?

Ok another stupid newbie question from my self :)

I still don't have a clue about most things trials and have just been getting to grips with my new bike which i traded for.

I've been trying to learn to trackstand and rear hop using the pedalkick method which i feel i'm getting pretty close to hopping despite taking nearly a month *cough* :)

Anyway i've been watching trials/street riding videos and was wondering if i'm at a disadvantage with not having a fixed hub? As it just freewheels. Would being able to back peddle make it a lot easier?

Once again sorry for the lame question :)

fixed is horrible, nearly everyone will have a freewheeling trials bike. just people use a freewheel on the front and a fixed sprocket on the back to get a smaller ratio.

Also being able to pedal backward wont make it easier, you can do it on a freewheeling bike by shifting your Wieght from the front to back.

Fixed is a bad idea.

If you see people backpedalling, they're just riding fakie. You have to turn your feet backwards because of how the freewheel/ freehub works. You don't put any power through it by doing that, it just lets the bike roll backwards.
