No worries, just a shame they don't give nearly enough coverage to bike trials. I know Ben sends them reports for all the nationals and stuff but they never touch it, funny as the Euro editions are all over them and have a really good setup with Tribalzine in France!

I don't think anywhere could compare to the service I personally have recieved from Tartybikes, even if I found a product cheaper I'd probably still stick with them as I know if anything goes wrong with my bike they always help me out wether it's getting an item asap or just some simple advice! (trying not to sound too much of an arse kisser!)

Cheers Dave.

Price differences depend on who you're comparing us to. The whole mail order industry isn't exactly a level playing field, so on a lot of things there's literally no way we can match certain prices - for example today we got asked to price-match an item that was being sold direct from that particular company's importer at less than what we paid for it at trade.

Everytime I asked my mother to get this magazine while she was in England, she said she could never find it! What a shame!

W H smiths, there's probably a massive one in London if she goes there. If they don't sell it, most Other places won't, seeing as they're the distributors too.

Yeah, it's a bit of a tricky one - to get more pushbike riders to buy it requires putting more cycle content in, which in turn means more cycle content needs to be produced. We've done our best for the last few mags, but it's a major drain on time which we don't really have to spare. We've had very poor feedback from the advertising (basing it purely on sales, we've got back 0.01% return on investment so far), and nothing from the articles unfortunately. I'm not sure we can sustain such an input to the mag given the benefits we've got back so far, which is a shame.

Yeah, I've written quite a few bits for them for free (comp write-ups, etc.) - some get published, some don't. I also did a few motorbike and cycle translations for them, but they have someone else doing it now, one of John's friends I believe (who I don't think is a cyclist). I know Robin Morewood writes the sidecar stuff for them and sometimes gets stuff in about Adam and the other younger riders, and Chris Doney sometimes gets a feature in, but that's about it.

It's a shame, as Tribal Zine would be perfectly happy to have the same or a similar set up in the UK, and I'm more than happy to produce content for them for cheap or for free, depending on what it is, but John just doesn't seem interested much of the time so I've given up a bit lately. I guess it's because they don't have that many cycle readers, but as Adam says, to bring those numbers up they'd need to feature more cycle stuff (and presumably for Johm, to feature more cycle stuff, they'd need more cycle readers), which means they need more people to produce it, so it just goes round in circles.

Maybe I'll approach him again soon, now the season's coming towards the end I could do a season round up of the nationals or something.

I ride Moto trials and subscribre to Trial Magazine, After reading several bits in the magazine and tests of cycle trials bike, I decided to buy myself a Second hand Echo and have a go myself and am loving it even though its so frustrating at the moment, The Tarty bike articles (Servicing a bike and the shop feature) then led me to buying some bits and pieces off them but forgot to use the code at the time. So all your efforts havent gone to waste as I am now enjoying learning to ride a "pushbike" again and will defenitely use Tartys again, and will probably be upgrading some bits as I get better. :D

Cheers Rob

One of the problems with this is that probably not many peoples knew about the stuff that was in it.

I buy this mag now and again when I am in Cumbria where they sell it all over the place so, IU din't know f**k all about it.

I think the people that knew probably bought the mag anyway because they ride moto.

You should get a pole on this thread asking if anyone actually knew there was any bike trials stuff in the mag.

Cant find this magazine anywhere =/ Any ideas where to look? I've tried WHSmiths and looked on their website and cannot see it.

I want to try one first before I subscribe, also do you know how long the tarty offer lasts?

cheers

I think it's time for TartyMag. :giggle:
