Herrarge
Hey guys, I've got some new bars but they are too thin to fit the stem of my bike. Is there any way to make them fit? Thanks

DeVal
pad them around with some innertube? not an ideal slution but ive done it on an old bike. p.s always check your specs before purchsing parts!
Skoze
Probably sticking 25.4 bars in a 31.8 stem, you can get a shim for it but it's usually better to just get the right combo in the first place
Jake. No...... Don't do this. Not on a trials bike anyway, when you're on the rear wheel the bars will be loose (even if it's tightened up, because rubber can still be compressed) and you're likely to have an accident. I have old style try-all bars which fit an smaller diameter stem. I may be changing my bar/stem combo soon, and I can sell this stem/bar to you if you like? DeVal
yes rubber can be compressed thats why you put in way more than you think is needed! obviously this is still not the best way to set up bars and stem lol I would personnally never do this on my trials bike. i would simply read the specs on parts to avoid this ever being an issue! lol
scully
Please don't try the innertube idea!
Adesaxo31
Cut some shims out of a coke can

Try and sell the bars, and buy the correct size (31.8)

Don't EVER put any rubber between the bar and stem clamps. Not on a trials bike, not on any bike. And like Luke said, if you wouldn't do it, then don't recommend it to other riders. bike_dummie
I used insulation tape on mine never slipped once. Make sure you use loads as when it compresses it will squash in to the holes of you stem presuming you have some.
