Formula Oro K18 Disc Brake For Trial?

Recommended Posts

So i've been doing a bit of research into disc brakes after was a little too loud to my liking, and i've found the Formula ORO K18 disc brake which is the one i'm interested in getting. However, it only has a 22mm piston as appose to a 25mm on the mono trial and the 24mm on the V2.

Thoughts? anyone tried this brake?

Would be using it on the front with an 180mm rotor so wouldn't need as much power as if i was using it on the rear.

EDIT: also, i'm only around 60kg + 9kg bike.

Are these brakes really 150g? is that possible?

If they ARE 150g whats the power like?

EDIT: i think thats just the caliper actually.

I rode them on my commencal for a while, good power and everything but the lever always felt abit weak and stubby.

Stubby meaning short?

Could i fit it with this lever blade? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=22478

It says short but it seems to be longer than the standard and i cant find a 'long' lever blade.

Standard one: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=22477

They brake's are awesome, got a pair on my 29er, and I can't fault them(been tempted to by one for my trials bike). A lot of people bitch about the bleeding process, but in all honesty as long as you use an avid bleed kit with them, you'll have no issues bleeding them.

FYI Danny Mac used to use these, and he loved them.
