Mike Poyzer @ Onza
We are looking at the ways we sponsor riders in 2012 at both Onza and Rock'n'Roll Bikes. As well as an Onza team we are looking at ways to introduce a Rock'n'Roll Bikes academy style feeder group for riders of the future. The idea is that you send us video's of your riding and if we feel you are good enough you become a Rock'n'Roll Academy rider with a sliding scale of benefits starting at a free academy tee shirt. The more video's you post and the more proficient you become then you move up the scale with discount benefits. We then have a pool of up and coming riders from which to select full Onza team riders. I stress that these are just ideas at the moment, but we want to try and promote trials at grass roots level. Any ideas and input would be welcome. Alex Dark
Sounds pretty interesting... but you will have a torrent of people applying! Hope something comes of it, does sound promising.

DeVal
Yea, but surely only people that have an Onza would be part of the academy being as it is Onza..., am I right? i would guess no to start with but obviously you would need to invest in at least an onza frame to work your way up to the top of the acadmey thingy lol p.s i already have an onza 26, better get a video done! Interesting. Sounds like a good idea. How come people don't have a frame sponsor and a fork sponsor and a bar sponsor and a crank sponsor and a brake sponsor etc. like mountainbiking and BMX has (or maybe used to have I'm not sure if it works that way any more)
Matthew_Gibson
I have an Onza Frame, I can't a few vids a year. (going to start my new one soon!) I'll be doing Tyke Trials season next year! GIVE ME FREE STUFF!! lol On a serious note I think its a good idea. But there are plenty of people out there who deserve some kind of sponsor ship. I would be up for it, but my rising isn't on par with guys on here! aha

Luke Rainbird
Sounds good, Mike. Shall have a chat to Mr Seddon next time we're riding How come people don't have a frame sponsor and a fork sponsor and a bar sponsor and a crank sponsor and a brake sponsor etc. like mountainbiking and BMX has Unless you were on the Ashton team a few years back Difference is that in MTB stuff a set of forks could easily set you back as much as a trials frame, so it's more worthwhile. In trials where most forks are under a hundred quid it's not really worth bothering with on the most part.

Mike Poyzer @ Onza
This posting was just to throw up some ideas and hopefully some discussion. We have already got people sending in video's and putting themselves forwards. Please do not do this as you are wasting your time. When our plans are finalised we will make proper arrangements and establish an e-mail for this purpose. Obviously any scheme will require the use of Onza and Tensile and any other Rock'n'Roll Bikes products.

Joe Papasnap Maher
You will have riders ( not that good ) claiming they are sponsored by onza, and this i can see turning very bitchy between younger riders. Younger riders, will be happy with a t-shirt and some stickers..Older riders, would want more. Im not keen on the idea.

Mark W
Interesting. Sounds like a good idea. How come people don't have a frame sponsor and a fork sponsor and a bar sponsor and a crank sponsor and a brake sponsor etc. like mountainbiking and BMX has (or maybe used to have I'm not sure if it works that way any more) Some people do - Ali and Stan, for example, when they were sponsored by K-124 had Trialtech as a parts sponsor. Like how Stan used to use an Orange Sky frame, but with Trialtech finishing kit (apart from his centuries old carbon bars ). I think it works like that for some of the other 'bigger' names. We sponsor a guy called Mike Steidley over in the States who has different sponsors for different aspects of his bike. Danny's got different sponsors for different bits too. The main reason more people don't is that it seems like the whole 'concept' of sponsorship in trials is quite a long way behind MTB/BMX sponsorship. The BMX sponsorship system seems to work pretty well, in terms of having a 'flow' and a 'pro' team for most companies. It makes it seem a little more structured and organised, and also clears things up more for the riders involved - definitely a lot clearer than, say, brake pad companies giving a bunch of different riders a free pair of new pads to go out and promote them and claim they're 'sponsored' by them. Mike Poyzer @ Onza
I don't think there would be any geographical boundaries, but clearly where Onza has a distributor in your country, there may be a requirement to do some sort of joint promotion. I haven't really thought this through yet, so I am shooting from the hip a little.
Kieran Morrison
Sounds like a good idea, so if you had any onza/tensile part on your bike you could join this 'academy'? Just any part, even sonething small like a chain?

Just any part, even sonething small like a chain? You wont be able to just 'join'. It is still going to be run as a team, all riders will be selected. I imagine it doesn't matter what you are running at the begining, but as part of the team you will be expected to run Onza/Tensile/Rock'n'Roll products
