LukasMcNeal
Floating rotors aren't as strong for a start! They are two pieces riveted(?) together so they aren't as strong as a one piece rotor. They are supposed to be so the heat dissapates quicker in DH riding etc. So not really useful for trials, I remember a video when I first got into trials with a person snapping them easily, I really doubt they'd last with front wheel moves. As for pads I'd stick with Hope pads they seem to be the most reliable!

Krisboats
Patt donnovan used a hope floating rotor up front for quite a while. Pretty sure he had it for the entire year i lived with him and it was still going when he moved out.
ZeroMatt
They last a fair while but the steel part will start moving around on the rivets after a relatively short amount of riding.
