Mono Trial

here is the situation:

my rear mono trial has some ultimate bite/hold, but only like 1 hour into a session (or after a run down a hill before every session). but until then there is absolutely zero hold. just a weak bite and loud squeeking.

i keep my bike in the basement (is high humidity a problem?). When I get my bike out for a ride, the caliper is absolutely dry except this area:

but even this area is no more than moist.... not leaking for that matter. The cap itself is tight.

once again, the rest of the caliper is dry (pistons too)

the brake is bled perfectly. As I said, it performes nicely except at beginning of rides.

any thoughts?

How did I kill your thread?

See those keys on your keyboard? Sometimes, when you view a thread, you can leave it without ever touching any of them.

On topic, as suggested I'd say move it out of the basement for an evening and see how it goes the next day. What else is stored in your basement? Any appliances for the household?

got a link to that tool? I dont even know what this cap thing is called

Have you got the tool to tighten the cap? ive had a new caliper leak from excally the same place.

thx for all the answers guys! i guess i'll have to take my bike with me to the 4th floor of the building (N)

todays ride was exactly the same...

as for the basement: it's a 6x12ft cellar compartment (thx translator ;)) in which i keep some car tires, books (i know, not the best idea), a folding bed, etc... it's pretty full

Any appliances for the household?

does a printer count?

wow thank you! that was quick!

and what will i find behind that cap if i decide against tightening but to open it? :shifty:

Dont take it off :L

You'll find lots of brake fluid and the piston.

I just nipped mine up (it was quite loose) tested it, and boom, leak free :)

And what other people have said about the humidity in your basement could have an effect, but i cant see humidity causing your brake to be crap for the first hour of a ride.
