bagre15
I bought a brand new magura HS33 orange edition. Should I bleed it with water? Wouldn't I ruin my brake if I water bleed it? If the water bleeding doesn't work, Can I bleed it with oil again? One last question, is there any problem in bleeding it with sink water? Sorry for asking to many question at the same time and sorry for my bad english
DeVal
if its brand new i would just use the oil it comes with and worry about bleeding in a years time!
theom
If its brand new they usually come already bled with royal blood, a water bleed will be fine!
JD™
How new are you to riding? If you know your stuff, bleed with water. If you don't then don't. Not a rant at you, but it really gets at me how people spend too much time thinking about performance gains rather than getting good. Again, that's a side note as I have no idea who you are I should still be using royal blood because I suck.

What does your skill level have to do with what you bleed your brake with? It's free and it changes the feel and response of the brake. Jake.
I don't see what you are getting at. What does your skill level have to do with what you bleed your brake with? It's free and it changes the feel and response of the brake. If the chap with an orange Magura has a Royal Blood bleed that works perfectly fine, there's no point changing to water. However, on my previous bike I always had a Royal Blood bleed (I tried out a water bleed but it never seemed to work) and it worked fine. On my new Koxx, it has a water bleed and is so so much better. Such a nicer feel when using the brake, it shouldn't matter what skill level you are... You should always go for the best performance if you can, because it makes you learn how to do trials-oriented moves much quicker.
bagre15
I think that I'm going to stick with the original bleed. I'm using an old echo TR brake, the ones that come with leakages. So my brake isn't very good. I tried one water bleed magura, that was perfect, this is why I'm thought of water bleeding mine. Another problem that I have is that I live in Brazil, and here is pretty hard to get royal blood, so our options of brake fluid are water or baby oil How new are you to riding? Again, that's a side note as I have no idea who you are I should still be using royal blood because I suck. I've been riding for about two year, by I've only gotten a decent bike about one year ago. Here's my last video, so that you can have one idea of how I ride The filming is no very good. My sidehop and my gap are better now than in the video, and I'm a bit smother now. Sorry, again, for my bad english Edited August 12, 2011 by bagre15
DeVal
there are probably a million water bleeding threads, remind me of the cons again?

It's free and it changes the feel and response of the brake. What I'm getting at is the fact that having a lighter feeling brake lever isn't likely to make a difference to someone who hasn't got the basics down. A heavy feeling lever never felt like the only boundary to me when I was learning to kickhop for instance. As it turns out, you've clearly got the basics down so you'll definitely feel the benefits of a water bleed.
