Gopro Hd Test Video

Hello all,

Got a couple of GoPro HDs in for stock and decided to test one out. Had used one on my car with good results (

), but set Stan loose on some rocks and this was the result:

Some pretty cool angles, just takes a little time to set each one up.

Cheers,

Adam

Hi, I just looked at this product on your site, it says 299 pounds. So is it 299 pounds then????

Are you kidding me?

Video was excellent. I really like these little cameras. The footage that appeared to come from low down on the downtube was very good.

So overly priced but still sell like hot cakes, and leaving those of us on a low budget out in the cold (N)

Don't worry - we have an alternative in stock too, which should be on the site shortly.

Personally I think the GoPro is amazing value for money - it's virtually the same quality as a £300 'normal' video camera, plus it can be mounted on your bike/helmet/arm/car/surfboard/etc.

We can get the other 'Hero' ones in to order if you wish - Motorsports comes with the suction cup, and Naked comes with just one sticky mount and is £30 cheaper I think (which we can get in stock if you guys think that would be a better idea? Since you could put that saving towards a roll bar or ride mount), but we can't swap them over, sorry.

What would you suggest is a fair price for a full HD (and actually good quality) multi-mount, strong, water-resistant camera that can be shoved on anything from a pannier mount to a penis...... for what it is, it's exceptionally fair i'd say.

I've liked these for a while now and would like to think about getting one in the future for both trials riding and on my mountain bike - such a step up from the usual helmet cams, and the variety of mounting options allows for some really creative opportunities.

Agreed!

Start of the vid, then 4:40:

GoPro footage starts around 1:50, then at 3:00, more at 5:00, then from 9:40 onwards:

It's all down to personal tastes I guess - if you are pretty passionate about filming and enjoy tinkering then I believe it's relatively easy to justify the cost. If you aren't too bothered then yes, it seems 'overpriced'.

Well given its diminutive size and HD quality compared with simular cams, id say £150-£200 is respectable price bracket given that it was priced at around £250 last year.

The camera quality and lens quality is significantly better than any £150-200 camera I've seen. No £150-200 camera has the same modular mounting system as the GoPro cameras too. None of them are as robust either. There's literally nothing on the market that compares to the GoPro - there are a few competing brands that offer cheaper versions, but they don't have the same options for mounts/brackets/clamps, and the camera quality itself isn't as good. The battery life's also probably not going to be quiet as good as the GoPro either.

It's pretty much the same as the difference between 'prosumer' cameras and dSLRs - the 'prosumer' cameras have a lot of the features of dSLRs, but they aren't actually a dSLR and lack the outright quality and extras you get with a dSLR. They'll save a bit of money, but they fundamentally aren't the same thing.

It's size is a positive, and anyway what robust, water resistant mountable camera gives similar quality for £150-£200....? f**k all do. Like has been said, it's a purposefully designed bit of kit and it excels at what it does. Buying a HD camcorder for £150-£200 (cus they're going to be great aren't they) and then trying to use them for this type of use is such a stupid comparison it does not bare mentioning.

If it's too expensive for you, there's the 720p version which sits in your recommended price bracket. Just as robust with just a few less pixels here and there so stop your moaning.

It's completely irrelevant if it was priced at £250 last year. As we all know there has been a big increase in manufacturing and material costs so products have to reflect this. It's annoying, but it's life, things don't stay at the same price indefinitely.

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon that so many do who say you talk nothing but shit, but in this case - jee wizz i'm hearing some class 'A' bull-ass-shit. I genuinely can't believe my ears, er, i mean eyes....ah you know what i mean!
