London Riots

Nah i ride my 4X bike which i can move around pretty quick so can sprint fairly good. Problem is they're doing Surrey Quays and Peckham at the moment so i have a very thin strip of lan (Old Kent Road) to get through which is currently OK i think. I just hope it doesn't spread as there will be no alternative route, i'd have to go straight through the action.

I used to live on New Kent Road, quite near to the Old Kent Road end of it. That was a pretty interesting place. Was the only place I ever got a gun pulled on me in London, so yeah, it's come to something if that's the 'safe' route. Fingers crossed for you anyway...

Keep me updated mate, brothers staying in Croydon atm, with Williams Engineering doing work somewhere there... Not heard a peep from him since friday!

Shall do, here and on FB/Twitter.

In other news: 23 people charged mainly with entering, 1 charged with assaulting a police officer. Remanded in custody for now.

Really? If shit kicks off in Inverness, Edinburgh, or Glasgow I WILL be getting involved... Bastards!

There were pages on facebook, which is probably a pretty good place to gather up people for a riot. I'm pretty sure those pages have since been removed, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if something still happened.

I do it everyday so i know it well and i know where to carry speed and where it starts getting safer. Thing is i know that route so if i have to detour it means being a bit slower, looking around, couple of wrong turns etc all of which will mean either going through E&C, Peckham, Surrey Quays and so on, so i'd like to stick to what i know.

Luckily i'm getting mroe and more fired up so i'm ready for the ride. Going to ride wild and dodge death as the saying goes.

What happened with the gun incident?

Here's some inspirational artwork i made to get things going. This mixed with Ennio Morricone's "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" soundtrack and i reckon i'll be good.

Was standing outside my house talking to a BMXer from Southbank and this massive, massive dude just walked up to us. He stopped, opened his jacket and pulled a gun out, eyed us up, then walked off. Fairly weird.

In fairness, when there wasn't any noticeable groups lurking there it felt pretty safe, it was just when you got groups hanging around that it felt a bit more iffy. When Old Kent Road was busy and I was heading south I'd usually dip into sidestreets as a lot of them seem to run fairly parallel to the main road so you can cruise along without getting caught up with traffic. If you do have to go through them I doubt you'd have any real trouble finding your way round at all. Just keep your speed up and your eyes peeled and I'm sure it'll be reet.

Might not be a bad idea as i imagine the shops all along Old Kent Road are an inevitable target sooner or later. Most of them are African shit shops but i doubt that'll stop them. I think it'll be pretty obvious to keep a southwardly direction - just keep all those landmarks behind me and keep Canary Wharf on my left. I get a beautiful, adjacent view of Canary Wharf from the hill i live on so getting there should be pretty easy. Just it's hard enough to look out for all the f**kers that would normally knock you off your bike without having to worry about the additional possible incidents.

The gun incident didn't sound fun at all - did you say anything or just wait for him to make his decision?

He just looked at us, we looked at him - no-one said anything, then he just walked off. Was just really strange... It was about 2am or so and he just appeared.

Some of the back streets are pretty wide there, and 'cos there's not as much general shit around you can see pretty well if I remember correctly. Might find some spots too, you never know :P

the trouble is people have now realised, that they no longer need 5000 strong groups to cause chaos(as in the student protests)

and that a group of 200 people, can easily run a riot and loot what they want, and the police are pretty powerless to help.

its not hard to find 200 people who are on the poverty line, already angry, uneducated, and willing to go rob themselves a new tv, and still claim jobseekers come friday, and people are wiling to do it, because if 200 people loot comet, everyone will leave with plenty of stuff, and thats only from 1 shop.

In all seriousness mate just post on here when you get back so we know you made it!

EDIT: Also

Strathclyde Police say they have charged a 16-year-old boy with breaching the peace in relation to a message posted on Facebook, which allegedly incited people to commit acts of disorder. The teenager was arrested in Glasgow at lunchtime and is due to appear in court tomorrow

EDIT2: misunderstood that. Thought it was a guy on facebook telling people to kill rioters or similar lol...

This video is from a couple of months ago in Barcelona, that was a peaceful protest aswell the police here don't care they go in strong. Thats what they should be doing in London.

These two sound very dumb.

Now thats what you need if there rioting and causing maham(sp). But that was a peacful protest and the police were beating people up for no reason. If I was there that would piss me off and just make me fight back.

Didn't see much action, but everything in the 6 mile route was shut down. Pretty much nothing open and stuff that was was being boarded up as I rode past.

All i saw as a dodgy looking guy on a very nice full sus specialised, a couple of dudes pointing to my bike, making comments and another dude staring. Most of that is typical of certain characters so i don't think it's out of the ordinary.

There certainly an eeire calm throughout the city. The jewelry quarter i work near was completely closed with police vans lining the entire street so we'll have to see how things pan out....

Yep armoured cars in Croydon. Somehow I don't think it'll stop the boys and girls who wanna cause mayhem... Plenty of other towns to hit. I'm off home to batten down the hatches now and soak some tshirts in petrol to affix to fence posts and light if they dare come anywhere near my property. That's as far as my vigilante justice will go... Promise.
