Matthew62
I hope you don't ride your trials bike to work!? You'd be hard pressed to outrun a gang with those silly gear ratios. Good luck anyway. Sorry only just saw your reply. Nah i ride my 4X bike which i can move around pretty quick so can sprint fairly good. Problem is they're doing Surrey Quays and Peckham at the moment so i have a very thin strip of lan (Old Kent Road) to get through which is currently OK i think. I just hope it doesn't spread as there will be no alternative route, i'd have to go straight through the action. I was okay past the 30 or so who fancied my bike yesterday - i just showed a bit of front and got my rag on. I was quite pleased as it was on a huge hill which i usually struggle on and i got right up to the top in no time. I wish i could call on that adrenalin more often. Revell-Bikes
From a source:- 85% of those who were arrested were black, the rest was mixed... a big multiculturalism fail? Its a stupid thing- if a white man was shot, the chances of this wouldn't happen... and this is just an excuse for mindless thugs and gangs to take action by rioting which inevitably led to looting! I sense a rise in the BNP and EDL in the near future. (I don't support either parties but just a prediction).
Muel
I sense a rise in the BNP and EDL in the near future. (I don't support either parties but just a prediction). I agree, and it will only make the situation worse and worse, leading to the downfall of modern Britain. These riots will continue, bankrupting the economy and sending us further into financial chaos. Welcome to the apocalypse.
Ali C
cool, maybe posting a comment like that and then going to bed wasn't a great idea. The riots are perhaps more serious than I had first seen, I thought it was "just another riot" London seems to have it's fair share what with the recent student protests and ones before that. they never seemed to come to much which is why I said I didn't really care. I apologise to you Matt and anyone else that found my post rude and insensitive, just maybe calm it down with the personal attacks yeh? I apologise to you Matt and anyone else that found my post rude and insensitive, just maybe calm it down with the personal attacks yeh? Just another riot doesn't make it any less serious. The last riots were extremely serious as well. Just because they're frequent doesn't mean you necessarily get used to them. My girlfriend got stuck in the centre of the Oxford Street ones (where she works) last time and got bottles, signs and what not thrown at her. Not a nice experience. Now they're happening all around where we live and it's miserable, so i think you can probably quite easily fathom why i said what i said. I'll calm with the personal attacks if perhaps you think before you speak. I completely understand how it's easy not to care if you're unaffected, but a little compassion wouldn't go a miss. Like i've mentioned, i just found it a bit rich to be looking for accommodation from people next weekend in London when currently those of us who have property here (JD, myself - well apparently not Joel at the moment but he is here) are all having our areas kicked the shit out of, so to say flippantly that you don't care, very much caused me some annoyance and seemed a bit hypocritical. I don't have any hatred towards you, you just annoyed the f**k out of me with your stupid remark so i wanted to make you aware of it. It's not particularly intelligent in response but i think given the circumstances you'll understand.

dann2707
Only just looked into this more as I was out town last night. Pretty damn awful and quite frankly shameful to be honest. Going from 6,000 to 16,000 police officers on the streets of London tonight. Hopefully it will improve things. My thoughts go out to those who are being affected by it. I am not sure how much I will be coming to London to ride as I can't ride yet because of my foot, so I had given no thought as to where I would be staying but now you mention it like that it does sound pretty shitty, I hope it all calms down and everyone down there is ok. JDâ„¢
Oi, Matt, Ali: Hug. No more personal battles here - you've both made your points and we're all spending some close quarters time together soon so chill
MonsieurMonkey
I know throwing in something that goes against the grain in this is gonna cause a shit storm, but this is more for discussion than anything, and I'm fed up of having to put disclaimers on my posts. Think about the people that are doing this, they aren't like us, they're literally statistics, they will be right within the average of their area, low income if not unemployed, minimal education, zero prospects. Can you imagine living a life like that? The fact it's spreading shows what a problem this is in the country, more retards elsewhere who have literally nothing going on in their lives apart from pushing out some more kids and getting some more free money. I am not blaming the global economic collapse, I'm blaming the fact we give people in this country everything for nothing. There are kids who leave school, sign on, and that is their life. Can you imagine that, you don't even need to try at school because you'll get free money afterwards regardless. Don't put a penny in the pot but take as much as you like. Whatever, this was more of a rant, if anyone shows an interest in this line of discussion I'll go further. What I said before was wrong, it's not a revolution, it's just human waste making this country look worse than it already is, in a way, it's like a reflection. The current Government is about the same as these creatures on our streets. Just they wear suits and have more money.

Tensions are high obviously, Ali's post was a bit careless IMO, but Matt you need to calm down to be honest. I know in this case it's very personal for you, but you've directed them at me enough times. Besides, now is a time to put them aside, not dish them out all the more. Franksx2005
Guy's died after being shot in Croydon, shits only gonna get worse there JD From what I heard the bloke who got shot had two passengers in his car and they both got arrested for handling stolen goods! That sounds to me like a vigilante shooting a rioter rather than an innocent man getting shot.

Matthew62
I'm a white dude so i guess i might miss the point on this one, but apparently the government are being accused of being racist. If you're are not of white, British origin can you explain how as obviously i don't get to see it? From my perspective it seems like a bit of an excuse, and as far as my little knowledge goes different races aren't subjected to different rules. I'm not talking about immigrants in to the country but people from all races who are born here. I just would like to know what the government (and i guess Police) does that is specifically racist and how people of differing cultures are treated differently? Things seem to be shaping up for the biggest night yet here. Lots of places all around are shutting and people i think are getting more scared as there doesn't seem to be an inevitable end to this. All i know is it's getting a bit tiresome and i just don't want to have to critically analyze where i can go and at what time, having to constantly keep an eye on the news listening to where 'mobs' are moving to. I just want to do my job then get home and enjoy some free time. I'm meant to be riding tonight, but i hear rioters are very keen on Fourplay's......god damn it! Muel
Prediction: Tonight we'll see the first vigilante white gangs trying to dish out some "justice". Thought that maybe this could prove to be a positive thing? The white vigilanty football service crew thuggy bastards wiping and the mostly black rioters going at it and potentially wiping each other out? (Obviously this post is trying to make light of the situation, if it's seen to be too much then I'll remove it).

Matthew62
Might seem a laugh and a joke too them now but at least eventually they all will get dealt with, so has it affected anyone who rides in the areas affected ? Ryanoo Can't ride - trials bikes are certainly not a good idea at the moment. Got to ride home from Central through the South East this evening so not looking forward to that, so yeah riding is affected i reckon. I think a lot of commuters lost their bikes yesterday so i dare say if a bunch of trials riders headed out through the heavier effected areas they wouldn't be too lucky... @JD: Yeah. I clearly don't understand the pros and cons - why can't the police just fill the streets with tear gas? The Police keep saying that such tactics are too agressive and any action has to be at the consent of the community. I give them my consent.
