Hey Guys!!

I understand I'll be making myself out to be a wimp but here goes!!

I was messing about outside my house, trying to gap from the curb to the speedbump and I slipped off the pedals and BAM!! My metal pedals smacked into my shin!! So now I have both my shins with scars, bruises and cuts all down them!! :)

I'm getting a bit sick of it cos it hurts like F**K everytime I do it!! I know its all part of learning but I'm getting a bit sick of doing it now!!

Soo.. My question is.. What shin protection does everyone reccomend and possably some linkys to where to buy them?? I know Tarty has some tryall ones and winstanlys has some 661 ones for slightly cheaper but I mean I'll let you guys give some suggestions first off!! :D

Thanks guys and FIRE AWAY WITH THE WIMP JOKES BY ALL MEANS!! :P

661's that go over your knees are ok too, should not be too expensive either. Only recommend if you wear long trousers though :P

I've also thought about football shin protectors, but if I look at my 661s I'm quite pleased that it covers my knees too..

Don't get football shinpads, they're designed for football and not cycling. They're often really thick and don't give your leg a chance to breathe, I use 661 shinpads- I dislike knee protectors as they seem to restrict movement. I use a soft shell, it's super light and flexible and stops cuts/grazes from the pedal after slipping on them. It absorbs direct impact but not as well as a hard shell would.

Something along the lines of this: http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/product/661veggieshinguard.aspx?&id=3172

Would be good.

Edit: Those shin-guards in the link are almost the same as mine.
