HJS
Hi there everyone, I'm having a bit of trouble when it comes to side hopping up things. Does anyone have any tips that could help or know of any good videos that could help? Many thanks, Harry Edited August 7, 2011 by HJS
SamKidney
I found that I had the Technique, but never preloaded enough. With your good foot away from the wall ( In my case, sidehopping to the left, as Im right footed), set your self up on the rear wheel with your left hand just away from the wall. This gives you a good distance between the wall and your bike. Once you feel ready to sidehop, bend your legs and lower the front end quickly, and then suddenly extend your legs and pull your bars to your hips ( Releasing the brake for the little crank thats in the take off). This will force the rear tyre into compression and give you some bounce. Quickly throw your arms up and forward and bend your legs to tuck as far into the bike as you can, putting you even higher. Land on the wall, Jobs done Keep practicing mate. Start small and slowly work your way up!

Jake.
1. Look at wall 2. Think about life 3. Positive Chi 4. look at the relaxing 5. Not a probrem 6. Make a kung-fu sound ^ How is thinking about life, look at the relaxing, not a problem, and make a kung-fu sound going to help with a side hop? And my tips are, as soon as you start hopping on the rear wheel- go for the side hop. Or you end up wasting a lot of potential energy that could go towards the side hop. mem405
In case you didn't realise that video is completely serious and really does help! I added 10inchs to my sidehop height just by making a kung fu noise, think about if I did all the other stuff.

Jake.
Cheer up Grandad! I tried breathing out while sidehopping today and it helped, didn't go far as doing silly noises though.
HJS
Well i don't think you need to go as far as making the noise but thinking positively and and imagining yourself really does help, all of this was a great help, thank you very much (: Harry. Yeah it really does, I did that today during a ride. And before every pedal-up, wheel-swap, or gap, I would think positive and imagine doing it myself. Didn't miss a single gap.
