Darren k;)
Hi guys on my last frame i had a bash guard, but it made my frame crack because i was landing on it hard alot. I would get a bashring but its not on my sidehop side. im right foot forward. would it be possible to switch all the drivetrain parts round... making the driveside on the left rather than the right? cheers
Revolver
Not really, no. Edit: I thought about it, and no, not a chance. NOT ON YOUR NELLY! Edited July 30, 2011 by Revolver
RossMcd
Not really, no. Edit: I thought about it, and no, not a chance. NOT ON YOUR NELLY! Its possible on a BMX, so it must be possible on a trials bike. Rear LHD profile, some bmx cranks with an 18t sprocket (if possible). Sorted. Revolver
But it's not as funny! I dunno if they make 10mm axle 116mm spaced LHD bmx hubs, but if you can find one, you're in business. Well, you might, if you can get the matching front sprocket.

Or do you have the comp already?
Kieran Morrison
But how wouldnt it work? I dont see whats stopping it. Explain? And darren it doesnt matter if its not on your sidehop side, you will only land on your crank from your side and that wont do anything bad. It could be used for failed pedal ups and switches

Revolver
But how wouldnt it work? I dont see whats stopping it. Explain? Freewheels only work in one direction. If you simply turn it around, then it works in the other direction. So if you fit a RHD stuff as LHD, it'd be great for going backwards but not really much use otherwise. Revolver
You can get a shit one in LHD.
SamKidney
Pretty sure a freewheel or sprocket would unwind itself too on the left. Middleburns and a Profile/ King would be your only option I reckon

Kieran Morrison
Have fun tightening your pedals every 3 seconds... Why would you have to do that?
dann2707
Why would you have to do that? Because when you swap cranks over a little bike fairy is called from the deep crevices of the underworld and loosens your pedal bolts when you are not looking. It's dangerous.

Greetings
Been riding for 10 years and I still freak out sometimes when I see the bashring lurking on the right side of the bike. So Mr Topic Starter, you have my full support.

N.Wood
I'm not sure I know what the issue is with it being on the right? I've been sidehopping both ways (left foot forward) for years and never wanted my bashguard anywhere other than on my right hand side. Infact I'm not sure i've ever really hit my bashguard when sidehopping.

JDâ„¢
Now all you've got to do is manufacture a one off drivetrain that will cope with the stresses of trials. Or you could realise that bashrings have been on the right hand side for, well, ever. When I used to sidehop, I went to the left and I don't remember any time I wished the bash was that side. Just ride your bike
Ali C
uit is possible, but you'll have to run pretty much all bmx parts, lhd cranks and a lhd rear cassette hub. They only tend to come in 14mm axles so you would have to slot them to fit 10mm dropouts. the gear ratio would be all out then too unless you can find a lhd cassette hub that doesn't have a one piece driver. Echo frame with press fit bearings, set of profiles or middleburns with glue on the pedal threads (if the axle fits) and LHD profile? Actually... I think 'burns would be the only reasonable solution as I don't know of any bash's to fit profiles.
Revolver
K, so I googled it - http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/6272/Profile_SS_LHD_Cassette_Hub_wCromo_Axle_10mm It doesn't say if it's 135 or 116, I can think of reasons why it might be either. It's 36h too. So, just the cranks issue to solve.
LukasMcNeal
Everyones said about the pedals but what about the sprocket also?
