Laurence--Trials
I brought some of the monty brake spray from tarty, received it this morning followed the instructions in the can and put it on, span the wheel fast and sprayed it round and the only thing the spray has helped with is me falling on my arse more offen. Am i applying it wrong? i've come home given my rear rim/pads a VERY good clean and im willing to try the spray a cupple more times. So any tips for using this stuff or is it just complete shit? - in a can.
kaybs41282
I've used it a few times...it's ok but you only need a very small amount or it locks your brakes.
Revolver
Use a grind, for christ's sake. This goes for everyone using tar or anything else on their brakes.

I found it just made mine terrible. I'll try using a tiny amount though. Use a grind, for christ's sake. This goes for everyone using tar or anything else on their brakes. I dont have a grinder, also dad seems know everything about trials and you can only grind your rim once then you have to get a new one (detect the sarcasm)
Revolver
Well, go round a mate's. You can't really tell how many grinds a wheel has so he'll never know.
Laurence--Trials
that stuff is SHIT. however i recently went out side, held the rear brake and pushed back it did seeeeem.. like it was getting better. If not I'll clean the rim and should have my ZOO! pads with me sometime next week.
AdamR28
What pads? Photos of setup?
Laurence--Trials
What pads? Photos of setup? One heatsink red and one plasmic (spelling?) clear pad (due to my other heatsink red having no material left, not sure why though, they came like that when i brought the bike), on dear grind, some plastic booster (does the job though) 4 finger lever on 05 magura. Laurence--Trials
I was wondering if it was the dead grind that caused me to have a bad rear brake cause i put some on my mates smooth bmx rim and it worked perfectly and made his brakes really good (for the first time) so he was pleased, unlike me
bagre15
Use a grind, for christ's sake. This goes for everyone using tar or anything else on their brakes. I use a light grind with a bit of tar. Locks as hell
Kieran Morrison
The way I use it is - Spray 4 little dots at each side of the rim (top bottom left and right) Cycle about for 10 seconds or so holding the brake in to make it spread lay it on the ground to let it dry for about 20 seconds Pick up your bike and use your epic brake I do it this way, makes it awesome. I was wondering if it was the dead grind that caused me to have a bad rear brake cause i put some on my mates smooth bmx rim and it worked perfectly and made his brakes really good (for the first time) so he was pleased, unlike me My grind is fairly dead and the brake spray worked great
Laurence--Trials
Once the stuff i've put on has worn off i'll try that kieran, thanks! Although i dont have much faith in this stuff. I was expecting amazing braking (bite, hold AND sound) and i get the oposite with a high pitched failing squeak. ,

I have the same problem it works perfect on the rear with the same pads and with no grind but it just won't work on my front with a dead grind. SamKidney
If your not allowed the use of a grinder, I seriously recommend Heatsinks CNC Yellows. Work so so well on dead grinds.
Laurence--Trials
I got some £5 onza pads and from what i'm used to they're insane and perfect for what i need, apart from the fact i like a quiet front brake for going from A to B but other than that they're perfect. For the rear i've ordered some ZOO! pads which people like CLS used so we'll see how they work. If they don't do it for me then heatsink yellows CNC it is!! bagre15
I use a light grind and good pads. 'Locks as hell'. I use CNC heatsink yellows, and I tried to ride without tar, but the brakes didn't locked very well. The pads were set square. I think that the problem is that my grind was diagonally, next time I'll try to grind more vertically
kaybs41282
I gave up and got a grind... Better and quieter!

Scrape the grinder in one direction, lift it off and move it back, instead of colouring it in both ways with the grinder. Dig?
