26" Tubes In 24" Wheels..

Oh right fair enough, i thought there might be advantages of less punctures but i couldn't really make sense of it in my head..

No. There isn't. Just a quick fix for a lack of 24" tubes.

Also - as a side note aimed at people who say what Mark said about not fitting in nicely...

If you fold the tube inside itself, the issue ceases to be. Can shrink the diameter as much as you like, no bulge as the bit that's folded over just doesn't inflate. Only issue with it is a very slightly heavy spot, but if you do it opposite the valve it almost works as an advantage ;)

Once I tried to pump a 26x1.9" tube in 24 wheel, but it came out a bad result cause some parts of the tube folding together and making a depressed spot, honestly no one would think that works after seeing the depressed spot from outside.

So I really wonder which size of 26 tubes people using to stick into 24 wheels?

My 24 tire is Holly roller 2.4.

..... as i said i'm running a Maxxis DH 26" tube in my 24" wheels (DMR DV24 rim with Holyroller 2.4" tyre) and it's fine.

You do get overlapping spots, but you just keep on pumping and all seems okay. I've ran 26" tubes for years no problem. If 24" tubes were the same cost i think i'd prefer to run them as there's less messing about, but really there is no issue.

I've never had a puncture due to a depressed, or over-lapping spot - only from think walled tubes whether 24" or 26".

Yeah, that's what I tried doing both times I had to use them, but it just kept annoying the f**k out of me. My tyres seem to be a relatively relaxed fit on my rims so it just makes it a b*****d to do. I think both times I was doing it it was also raining which meant I was in a bit more of a rush :P

I think it's just because you are anal as f**k when it comes to your wheels and tyre! Oh, and bar/stem, and gear ratio, and pedals.....what I am trying to say is you are anal as f**k when it comes to setting your bike up, seems to pay off though.

Theres nothing really bad about it, i carry around 26 or 24inch tubes all the time. Even when im on an xc ride, if i havent got a 26inch ill just stick a 24inch one in. Doesnt matter.

Ive even seen Danny Holroyd once put a 20inch tube in a 26inch wheel, takes abit of work to get it in but it worked lol.
