MadNick1.2
Hi Guys. I am looking to buy a new hub and would like you to vote in favour of one or the other. If you can please give your opinions and knowledge about either hubs or both it would make my decision easier. Oh and moving to front freewheel is something which i want to avoid because to get a decent set up it will cost nearly the same as the above hubs. Thanks in advance all. Cheers Nick Edited July 25, 2011 by MadNick1.

bike_dummie
industry nine, less drag and is much more reliable as they either work well or they don't from what i have heard. Where are you getting the hub from as i couldn't find anywhere that sold industry 9 bmx hubs in the uk? dirt jumper jake
I wouldnt bother with a king unless your going to use a steel drive shell and hd axle.
Skoze
King for sure, I9's are completely unproven in trials. King's a get a load of bad press but I really don't see why, look after it and you'll have very few problems. No more than any other hub, anyway. MadNick1.2
Here sells the hubs, you will have to import them. It takes 5 days from the US. Jenson industry nine, less drag and is much more reliable as they either work well or they don't from what i have heard. The hub has never skipped for me and I dont think it did for ben, I take the drive shell out a couple of times a year and give it a clean out, I havent serviced the drive rings yet. With a king, preferably go for one that has either had a shed load of xc use or has been proven as a skip free trials hub
Mark W
industry nine, less drag and is much more reliable as they either work well or they don't from what i have heard. Where are you getting the hub from as i couldn't find anywhere that sold industry 9 bmx hubs in the uk? Are you sure the I9 would have less drag? My King spins pretty amazingly in any case - I use it just for streety sort of trials and haven't ever felt like there was any drag there. Definitely not enough to put me off running it. If I had the Singlespeed version rather than the Classic I don't think I'd really ever need to change hub 'til this one dies. I had a go on a bike with a Pro 2 T recently and the difference in feel of engagement is pretty crazy between the two, the King's just so much faster engaging. They do feel weird first as they don't seem as 'solid' as a Pro 2 T or freewheel, but once you're used to it they're all good. With a king, preferably go for one that has either had a shed load of xc use or has been proven as a skip free trials hub Or get one super cheap second hand like I did
forteh
Or get one super cheap second hand like I did Thats what I meant I wouldnt say I got mine super cheap but 6 years ago 160 quid for a king built onto a viz rim was a pretty good buy. As its proved to be a 100% reliable hub I canny complain Since cheap, reliable freewheels and the widespread use of FFW, kings have devalued quite dramatically in the trials market; dont know how they fair price wise from the xc riders. Mark W
£60 built up onto a Trialtech Sport rim. Wasn't even fully bedded in. Big thanks to Luke Rainbird for realising that (for his application ) FFW was better...

Big thanks to Luke Rainbird for realising that (for his application ) FFW was better... To be fair I'm just not a massive fan of the feel of a King, though that'll be in part down to the ubersolid engagement of the Pro2/Echo SL setups I've been running. A couple of rides on the King on the 24" were more than enough for me to decide I wasn't a big fan so I've just sold another on again haha! Luke Rainbird
I picked it up at bargain price and wasn't out to make money off it - saw Westlake was looking so it went his way

Yeah, there are time when I miss the more solid feel of a Hope, but I think I'm going to stick with the CK for now. If it wasn't so externally battered now I'd possibly have sold it - had to mod my fun bolts quite a bit for a random tensioner setup I used to have, so I think that might put people off it a bit
Cap
I can't comment on the I9 but I ran a king with hd axle and aluminium drive shell for about 5-6 years, as long as you look after it, clean it out every now and then.
