Manus-Rider
Hello, this may be a stupid question or a pointless topic but i bought a echo sl rear rim brake the other day, but the hose was not attached to the leaver, so i tryed to push the hose back on to leaver but it seemed impossible as it was really tight to push on. Could someone please explain to me how to get the hose onto the leaver. Do i need a new bigger hose or is there a tool or a special way to put them on or just plain and simple MAN POWER? Please help me and sorry if this is a stupid question or pointless topic Thanks very much in advance charlie
AndrewEH1
Is it a Echo SL Rear with a Magura HS33 Lever?
Manus-Rider
Its a echo sl leaver body like this http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/brake_levers/echo_sl_lever_2010/c98p11294.html
ForrestDump
I think you take the barbed fitting out of the lever then use a hammer to tap it into the end of the hose, and then screw it back into the lever. That’s what I think from reading what you said and after looking at the pictures so I may well be wrong.
AndrewEH1
You should be able to push it on, it will take a bit of force because you wouldn't want it to fall out while riding. You could use a hammer but be gentle! Edited July 25, 2011 by AndrewEH1
kaarel
the easiest way is to get something like http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/rim_brake_spares/magura_hose_clamping_blocks/c5p10026.html that to tighten up the hose and then tap the barbed fitting into the hose. use a bit of some kind of lubrication to. BradJohnson
cut off the barb, and use a nut and olive http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/rim_brake_spares/magura_shroud_nut/c5p378.html http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/rim_brake_spares/magura_hs33_olives_2/c5p28.html
bike_dummie
Using a vice, clamp the hose (best to use hose clamps) next get the barb and a bit if wood ( put the wood on top of the thread part of the barb this will make sure you don't ruin the threads or the seal) and hit the barb into the hose using a hammer using a lot of lubrication. This Method is tarty approved . You definitely wont be able to push it on if it was this way there would be no seal and it would leak and you only use a shroud nut and olive at the master slave. This method will not work for braided hose as I found out the hard way you need to get hope disc brake spares and overall it isn't worth the trouble (this dosnt apply for standard plastic hosing) Adam Edited July 25, 2011 by bike_dummie
