Matt Vandart
Which is better: 22:17 20:17 20:15 something else?
Mikee
Which is better: 22:17 Good ratio for more naturals trials. 20:17 Will be too light. 20:15 abit harder than 22:17 so better if you want abit more speed for street. something else? Here is my opinion from exprience. My favourite ratios though that I have tried on my inspired are 22:16 and now I am using 18:13 which are both very similar. isitafox
If I were you I'd go for 22-16 and buy the screw on 16t sprocket I have at home with no use for!
Revolver
22-17 is good.
Skoze
22:17 was nice on my old 609, quite light but still enough for some speed. Running 20:15 on the new one which is equally good, does everything pretty nicely.
Matthew62
I wouldn't go any lighter than 20:15. I run 18:13 and it's a bit pussyish.
Matt Vandart
So 22:17 or equivalent is the consensus then?
Ali C
that's way too light. 22-15 seems spot on to me.
Revolver
22-15 would be too hard for me. It really depends on what you're using it for. ...and if you're prepared to get used to a weird feeling ratio.
Ali C
A lot of people do seem to run really light gear on 24" bikes for some reason, Stan runs 22-18, Ben Rowlands used to run 18-16 (until he saw the light) and Sean Watson Runs something silly like 16-13. If you are riding a compy style bike, then a lighter gear should be fine, but for street a lighter gear can hold you back.
Revolver
Mmm, well, originally when I chose 22-17 I had gears so I tried 18 and 16, which were both not quite there for me. When I went out on the suicide brakeless thing I built up, I did find the light gear to be weird. I think I'm used to my BMX's ratio for that. Matthew62
I couldn't ever conceive of running 18:16 on a 24". I don't get how you'd ride with it and think, 'that's the gear for me'. I feel like i'm going nowhere on 18:13.
Mark W
22:15's a nice compromise between power and acceleration. 23:16 was tickety boo too. In related news, I have a Trialtech 23t sprocket and Inspired bashring for sale. Just sayin'.
Matt Vandart
Lolz, I'm alright for sprockets and bashes thanks guys, any way I am trying out 20:16 atm and it seems to be going well.

Matt Vandart
Thanks for your comments dudes, I have put 6 gears on there so I can decide which is bestest. Its a street bike by the way, should have mentioned that earlier!
Mark W
If you're riding street on a 24, 20:16 sounds really, really light. The standard gearing on the 2011 Fourplay is 22:16 to put it into context - they aren't particularly hard geared either. I don't even think that's a real term, but hopefully you'll get what I mean
