Canardweb
Hello, yesterday I received my BB7 disc brake (203 mm) and my trialtech forks. I used a Hope F adapter (tarty helped me to choose as I didn't know which one to take) to mount the brake onto the +20 IS disc brake mount the Trialtech fork has. When I had finished building the caliper on the fork I noticed the rotor was hitting the caliper and rubbing really hard and that made the wheel impossible to turn. I have tried both supplied adapters and the Hope one but it still rubbed really hard!!!! I filed it and it solved the problem but is this a common problem? Have I done something wrong? Thanks. AndrewG
caliper or adaptor ? if adaptor than it´s normal for 203mm discs so cut a little piece from adaptor. and if itś not adaptor than you should make a better pics to show what´s the problem or place some washer under brake Edited July 14, 2011 by AndrewG
N.Wood
I think I had this when I ran a BB7, I seem to remember I put another washer under the caliper to move it out 1mm or so, and the job was jobbed.

Matt Vandart
I concur, put a washer under the post .

Ali C
put more washers on then.
Canardweb
put more washers on then. I would have had to buy some and filing the bit away was enough. I was really only wondering if this was a common problem happening...
AdamR28
Is it rubbing on the outside edge of the rotor, or the side?
Oli P
The problem is due to adaptor F is the wrong one for your setup. Adaptor F is a 180 adaptor and then with the +20 makes 200 not 203. The correct adaptor that you need is adaptor J which is 183 then with your +20 forks makes 203. I have an almost identical setup to you with same forks rotor and BB7 but with the J adaptor and I have had no problems with rubbing. AdamR28
Or you can just add 1.5mm of spacers...
Oli P
Or you can just add 1.5mm of spacers... Yer your better off adding spacers as filing the calliper may mean the pads are not pressing fully on the main part of the rotor.
Canardweb
Is it rubbing on the outside edge of the rotor, or the side? I wasn't sure of what you meant so I took a pic to explain where it rubbed.
AdamR28
Thanks, much easier. You just need to add 1.5mm of spacers between the caliper (or the washers) and the adaptor.

Ha too late now anyway. Thanks man. I guess this is a common problem then.
AdamR28
Well, sort of - people just add the spacers automatically usually, as it's the easiest/obvious solution
Canardweb
Well, sort of - people just add the spacers automatically usually, as it's the easiest/obvious solution I actually added some but it was still rubbing pretty hard you know. AdamR28
I actually added some but it was still rubbing pretty hard you know. How much? Less than 1.5mm and it will still rub.
Oli P
Ha too late now anyway. Thanks man. I guess this is a common problem then. As said in my earlyer post the problem is that the adptor is the wrong one for your setup. So only common if people get the wrong adaptor. Canardweb
How much? Less than 1.5mm and it will still rub. Those supplied were like 1 mm so yes I needed more. As said in my earlyer post the problem is that the adptor is the wrong one for your setup. So only common if people get the wrong adaptor. Wrong. First Tarty helped choose the adpater so I don't think they went wrong... Second, I tried the supplied adapter too and it was rubbing just the same! AdamR28
Cool, another washer will sort you out then There is another adaptor available that is 1.5mm 'taller' (and therefore more 'correct'), but in reality it's not necessary when you can just add a couple of washers. We found the confusion caused by having different adaptors outweighed the 'problem' of adding the washers.
Oli P
Wrong. First Tarty helped choose the adpater so I don't think they went wrong... Second, I tried the supplied adapter too and it was rubbing just the same! Without the extra spacers the adaptor is the wrong size, but as Adam has said that having loads of different adaptors can get confusing so just adding a couple of spacers to save all this explanation is much easier. Also I take it that the standard adaptor is also 180 which means that you will get the same problem that can be solved with a couple of small spacers. Thanks a lot for all these infos lads! The brake is really awesome! Better than HS33 and Vees! It locks or modulates whether you want one or the other. Awesome!
