The bolt goes into the flywheel pull and acts as the head to push against the BB, while the 3 legs attach to the crank. As you wind the handle down it works like a crank extractor normally would. Did it trying to get my bro's drive side crank off, threads for removal tool had gone. Boiled a kettle, poured the water over the crank and taped a flathead between the freewheel and BB cup.
