BurlyBox
he didnt even need to take it off. he thought it would be easier because he needed to take a bit off his cranks because it was catching. i dont trust him fixing my bike thats for sure. Andeee
Buy this it may help Unless you wanna be a tail and destroy the taper/spline on your b.b Edited July 12, 2011 by Andeee
Muel
ProTipTm Ride the bike and the crank will eventually loosen it's self. Wouldn't ever recommend this, as it trashes the tapers. For future reference if the thread it stripped: http://wiki.trials-forum.co.uk/index.php/Removing_cranks_with_a_stripped_thread

Sam Nichols
Buy this it may help Unless you wanna be a tail and destroy the taper/spline on your b.b He's stripped the threads that are required for that tool.
BurlyBox
he used a crank remover and it wouldnt move and thats how he destroyed the thread.
Martin Reynolds
he used a crank remover and it wouldnt move and thats how he destroyed the thread. Had a similar problem on my mates bike, square taper crank on TIGHT. Ream the tool up, then shock the tool with a hammer, tighten the tool 1/4 turn, hit with hammer, repeat. Crank came off, even though i bent my crank removal tool a bit
PaRtZ
He's stripped the threads that are required for that tool. With that method, you don't need the threads. The bolt goes into the flywheel pull and acts as the head to push against the BB, while the 3 legs attach to the crank. As you wind the handle down it works like a crank extractor normally would. Back to the video, I really wanted him to miss the crank and smash his nuts...

Simpson
Its fine doing it that way but wtf are you using a rubber mallet? there designed to absorb impact. Get a sledgehammer next time, simples. *my bikes have been and always will be sketchy as f**k.
