AlexxRogers
Onza Bird - Brilliant starter bike. Getting good - Depends on the rider, how much you ride, how dedicated you are, etc etc. There is no definite time.

AlexxRogers
thanks for the reply man, quick question though, onza bird 2010 or 2011? because as far as i know the only diff is the paint with is 100 quick more? what u think I think the pads, tyres and geo have all been tweaked for 2011. Someone with better knowledge will no doubt correct/confirm this.

Ali C
some people say it takes around 10,000 hours of doing something until you get good at it. How true this is I don't know. Usually you can tell someone has some decent skills around the 3-4 year mark in trials, I have been riding for over 14 years and I am still learning. How good you get and how long it takes you is such a personal thing, we can't really tell you anything accurate.
N.Wood
Depends what you class as 'good' too. If you spent all day every day doing sidehops you could become 'good' at sidehops within a few months. That doesn't make you a good rider though.
Rourke
Well im 14 and I have been riding on and off for a month now. First I practiced rear wheel hoping and wheelies. Then I practiced pedal kicking. Then I practiced pedal ups. I then was able to jump down for curbs small walls and now picnic tables. I also slowly learned how to do a full 180 stopie. Now the latest thing I have learned is how to ride a bike backwards. Also consider I only rhode in weekends mostly.
BurlyBox
ive been riding about 6 weeks every sunday and im getting close to pedal hops and back wheel hops now. it does depend on the rider though. i know someone who took 6 months to learn to pedal hop and hes now been riding 2 years and is one of the better ones in the group now. someone else i know took a year to be able to pedal hop so it all depends on the rider and how determined you are. Gilbert
depend on what you call "good" after 2 months I can ride fakey? ride backwards I can back hop ( hop on the back wheel) has taken about a month to get the consept of pedal kicks, (pedeling and hoping at the same time) i can hop. and i can wheely, but combinding the two rly screws me up, i can do 2 pedal kicks I can 180* on the front wheel and thats about it, I cant bunny hop properly yet, I can on a stand still but not on the move as high any one can pick it quite fast, as some 1 said ^^ depends how comittted you are, id say practice just 1 hr aday will help loads, i dont but i should, over my 2 months ive done 6 days out riding, 4 london trips, 1 to bristol, 1 at guildford, a few hrs practice at home and thats it try and go to "members organised rides" get to ride with bettter people in public, I found it helped my confidance because im crap and some 1 who is better to explain and teach u
Themistoklidis
A major factor imho is with whom you ride too.If you ride alone you are not going to progress that much in a short period of time, due to lack of motivation and courage to do bigger and harder stuff..I just cant get "in the zone" when im riding by myself... N.Wood
Another thing - 2 people on here could be like "we can both tap 45", both sidehop 40", both hook 60" and both gap 6' " which would make them sound of the same standard, but one might be sketchy as f**k and have no style which can't be put across the internet. Jamie_Trials
Hard to say, you've gotta consider a lot of things Who you ride with.Where you're ridingHow passionate you are.How much riding you'll be doing. What your physical condition is. And so on, basically you can't really say, then there's defining good too... Just having fun is the main thing anyway
