casualjoe
Anybody know a good place to buy these Tange bearings? Also, I'm finding it difficult to pull off the driveside cup by hand, will it eventually come off if I whack it? Cheers
Ali C
you're trying to pull the drive side cup off the body of the bb? Good luck, they are not meant to come apart (well, not without a lot of force anyway)
casualjoe
Ok, cheers. Do you know if they are just pressed together or bonded as well? edit, I've only had it a few months and would rather not have to buy a new one. Borat
Surely you'd be best asking, how you replace them? :L
casualjoe
Well you can't replace them by magic mate, the driveside bb cup has got to come off.
casualjoe
Please don't tell me this bb was designed to be so disposable! Try-All seem to manage with fully replaceable bearings
AdamR28
Firstly, which BB is it? Secondly, what makes you think they need replacing?
casualjoe
The sport lite it is. I removed it a while back and the drive side bearing feels very notchy, (non drive side is still sweet) so just wanted to replace it before building the bike back up. AdamR28
Cool - the bearings are quite 'special' and I'm not sure you'll find replacements easily. Notchiness is pretty much normal for any BB used for trials, every time you land hard it'll put a tiny dent in the bearing race. If your frame isn't faced then this can increase the feel of notchiness too. The thing with the Trialtech is that there are twice as many balls as normal, so it will stand up to abuse more than other BBs (ask Ali C). If you want to get the drive side cup off, balance it over a vice (left hand side of the axle down) and smack the end of the axle with a mallet. casualjoe
Cheers man, that's what I was gonna try but I'll just ride it for a bit longer then. It would be nice to know where to get the bearing when the time comes, they're made 'somewhere' I'm guessing.
AdamR28
Yeah, the factory that makes the BBs makes them I believe.
