kaybs41282
I managed to brake my elbow this week and I'm looking at at least 8 weeks off the bike Basically I hopped onto a concrete sleeper (2 mins into the ride) and the back wheel slid out of the brakes resulting in me going backwards and smashing my arm on said sleeper... no pins required thankfully! I'm running Avid sd7 arms with TNN pads and a light grind so i'm shocked it slipped... Everything is a massive hassle without your good arm but I suppose it could be worse...nice dent in my helmet to prove that! The question is, what do I do for 8 weeks?!? Can't even run as i'll get sweaty and itch like hell I'm sure loads of people have been in a similar situation right? isitafox
Harsh dude, I'm gutted I'm looking at maybe 2 weeks off the bike from gashing a large chunk from the back of my knee, don't know how I'd handle 8 weeks! If you need something to pass the time while your off why not try and get hold of a cheap rim and hub and have a go at wheelbuilding?? Can it be done with one hand though lol Can you recommend a tutorial? It won't stop me getting fat though lol Edited July 8, 2011 by kaybs41282

kaybs41282
Cool thanks... The annoying thing is it was such a crap fall..not dangerous, not dynamic just a standard everyday pedal kick up onto an object gone wrong...just unluck I guess. I think i'll have a deep mistrust in those brakes when i get back into it though
isitafox
I did the same kind of thing a while ago, backhopped onto a small wall near my father in laws farm which was made of rough concrete and pebbles. Back brake majorly failed and i slid down the wall on my back all the way up it. Looked like I'd just been attacked by a cheese grater and put me off for a while! piperfraz
I had the flu for a week or two, I was off school so my parents wouldn't let me ride So I gave my bike a proper deep clean. I used some stuff that you spray on your frame to make it shiny. Quite satisfying at the end of it

isitafox
Was just down to the fact I'd built the bike using some old parts and was using some old kool stop pads on a smooth rim and they just weren't upto it on a 20". Quick grind and some heatsinks later and I never had a problem again!
craigjames
I had 8 weeks in a cast a few summers ago, what i did apart from wanked furiously all the time, becoming a forum troll etc. Was to save up all the Cocodamol that they gave me, just put up with the pain and then in the last few weeks consumed it all. Made those last few weeks of sheer boredom fly by You will go mental i'm afraid, you live in the middle of nowhere? Being unable to get anywhere nearly killed me! isitafox
The question now, did you pay more on ebay than Sam sold it for on here? Although I do recall it going for a stupidly low price cause nothing was selling at the time!

I know what you mean about carrying stuff, I'm moving house in 2 weeks so that'll be a laugh! But to be fair Ali, at least yours was a big move with a good story to tell...mine was just laughable! :$

I posted it to whoever bought it anyway. Can I be cheeky and ask for first refusal if you ever want to sell it? Muel
Must have done yeh. It don't need no tensioner, with that gearing if you get a brand new KMC Z610, it's the perfect legnth. If you want the details as to how anal I was with that build, get in touch lol. I don't really miss it to be honest, spent all my time fettling and polishing and no time riding it. Just would like the option open. Edited July 8, 2011 by Muel

Yeah any information you have would be good...Did you do the nice scratch/gash down the left side of the frame or was that after you lol Why did you use the splitter, does it offer any advantage?...never seen one before! Why did you sell it? When was this?

Why did you sell it? When was this? Might have done, there was a slightly one there but I polished it out mostly. Splitter helps make the pistons move at the same speed, but also allows for a better hose path IMO, and allowed me to use two M8/M6 slaves, with each line going to an olive and a shroud. Unlike barbs, olives and shrouds are much harder to kick off. Sold it due to lack of time/drive to ride, lack of money, and I was moving out and had no-where to keep it. I'm physically shocked, thought you'd thrown your towel in?! Pretty much. Still got my koxx for the odd play, which is roughly never. I'm not going to lie, right now I don't want it and don't think I ever will, would just like the option to have it back if it came up.
