isitafox
Beg borrow and steal my friend, for tyres your better with digger or dumper truck ones as they're a lot stronger and more stable than some tractor ones. If you tell me where you live I can probably locate your local pway yard who you'll want to speak to regarding sleepers, if you speak to them via the council you may be able to get them for free as we do on the railway. Ok no rush cheers buddy and Laurence I've been told by ian that they're going to apply for a £1000 grant to build a small trials park, so if we can get the majority of the stuff cheap or free then we can spend all the money on getting "tartybikes" banners to put all over the place
N.Wood
When I had my little backyard trials section I found the most useful bits were some concrete blocks I made. About 300 tall, 500 long and 250 wideat top, 300 at base. Made them tapered to give more stability. Just knock up a wooden mould and pour him in. They were heavy enough to stay put but could be moved if you wanted. I used these to gap to / from a stack of pallets.

I've been wanting to make some temporary stuff that I can move from the edge of the garden into whatever sections I want and then back, because it's a shared garden. Hadn't thought of making concrete stuff, but the obvious problem is weight. Would be cool though because you could make all sorts out of them, like moulding out holes to slide rails into and stuff... N.Wood
Sweet mate, you got any pics of the set-up? Didn't think about anything like that I'm afraid I don't as it was back in the day, but consited of a stack of pallets, a couple of sleepers and about 3 concrete blocks. Were they in anyway portable Nick? I've been wanting to make some temporary stuff that I can move from the edge of the garden into whatever sections I want and then back, because it's a shared garden. Hadn't thought of making concrete stuff, but the obvious problem is weight. Would be cool though because you could make all sorts out of them, like moulding out holes to slide rails into and stuff... You could kinda roll them with a little effort, but portability wasn't really built into my design. You could easily incorporate some kinda handle / maybe even a lightweight fill core (Kingspan maybe??) or design them so they can be split into 2 smaller parts. You're right though, skys the limit when it comes to incorporating stuff into them

ireson75
Hi mate, There is a reclamation yard near me that sells old telegraph poles and sleepers aswell as lots of other stuff that would probably be decent for a trials park. Here is there website http://www.romseyreclamation.com/ Obviously you can't buy stuff from there but it might be useful for maybe looking at likely prices/budget if you are gonna buy the stuff???
