piperfraz
Hi, Im having trouble with my headset. If it's too loose, I try to tighten it, but then it becomes really hard to steer. I can't seem to get a good balance between so I'm wondering if anyone could guess what's wrong? Cheers, Fraser
trials owns
when the star nut is fully tight it should not affect how hard it would be.....are all the bearings etc in correct?
Tioz
I was going mad too with my MTB when I decided to change forks Tighten the top screw a tiny bit at a time ad keep checking until you feel the steering gets hard..at that point untighten it a tiny bit and do up the clamps
piperfraz
when the star nut is fully tight it should not affect how hard it would be.... Do you mean topcap? are all the bearings etc in correct? As far as I know, what should I check though? I was going mad too with my MTB when I decided to change forks Tighten the top screw a tiny bit at a time ad keep checking until you feel the steering gets hard..at that point untighten it a tiny bit and do up the clamps But not only does the headset move, the forks start to move around if I loosen it, so I kinda have to go around with the steering tight. Do you mean topcap? yeah the screw in it. Edited June 18, 2011 by trials owns

liam n
make sure the top bearing race is in the right order, when i first put my headset in the race was jamming between the forks and the headset cup preventing the forks from turning and or turning easy when loose
