Wheel Movement

I've noticed when riding along that if I freewheel with the bike at a bit of an angle the front rim rubbed on one of the brake pads. I stopped and gave the rim a wiggle and there's a slight bit of movement in it side to side I think from the spokes.

Is this anything to worry about as I've never noticed it before?

How much would you say it moves? Are your pads set up quite close to the rim?

Have the spokes got enough tension on them? If they are, wheels do have a small amount of sideways flex so it probably isn't anything to worry about. If they are abit loose, put abit more tension on them and see if that improves it.

This could be many things.

1.The wheel could be thin and quite flexy

2.Your spokes could be loose, causing it to move.

3.You cones could be loose.

4.You quick release may be loose.

5. Loose brake pad backings.

When using plastic ones mine move about, especially if you have them set up close to you rim.

Its a trialtech square hole rim on an echo tr hub. The flex is in the spokes themselves and not the hub so it might just be normal, I've just never noticed it before.

Will see if anyone thinks it odd when I'm down south for the next british cup round as there's no riders local to me to ask an I don't wanna take it to a lbs!
