bikeperson45
I'm no expert, but I think that it may help to lift off a bit before because it seems you hit the edge before you've actually reached the full height you could get. I think sometimes that your rear wheel hit the pallet in the middle, which should probably be avoided. The height your pedal upping is an annoying one in my experience, I'm in a similar situation where your jumping a respectable height and you've got the right basic technique but it's harder to improve. Just try to remember and emphasise preloading, kicking harder, making your own body jump higher and tucking in towards the end. Also, I've found it helpful to learn to wheelie to pedal up to improve my technique. I don't know if it's just me that it helps but might be worth a try, I suppose. Aidan97
have you ever tried the tap I find it very useful when landing stuff to back wheel
chimpanzyyyy
watch vids of pros for this kind of moves the best is benito look at the way he s pedalling the way he preloads the way he trows himself in the wall the way he tuck and the gurn of course it's all about springness
Topsy
I actually start standing still about 1.5m away from the obsticle and just start without rolling fast before. Noticed that I felt securer like that and could get a bit higher as I had more confidence. Just note that I'm still a beginner and stuck at about 80cm. jakejp94@hotmail.co.uk
Get your balance only about 1 revolution back,or depending how big your trying to get up,compress, burst foward, and carry the pedal revoltions solid up to the edge. thinkdougie
Its just practice! Try starting closer to the wall, less speed means more torque when you pedal to lift the bike up into the air
liam n
i am constantly doing this, i think i have the same technique as you and the exact same thing happens, i think you may be taking off to early and not tucking up enough, you have to try not to think about it but give a solid flowing kick as you see from those pictures the only reason your slipping back is your position on the object more tuck bigger kick will help if you find a way of overcoming this please tell me as i have the same problem hope this helps EDIT: made this, i'm not the best person to learn from but the technique's kinda there Edited June 8, 2011 by liam n

Dušan
i might film myself doing pedal up as i think that i pedal up same height as you (but on 26" ... i think pedalups are quite harder on 20" than on 26"...) BTW: Why do you have that pallet there?
chimpanzyyyy
man your jumping backwards , you want to jump forward onto the object. Just bloody hell jump forward damnit, youve got loads of height to work with. that's it when you pedal up/bunny up you have to trow yourself in the object, not just jump high trow your shoulder forward because, both your body and your bike needs to be on the obstacle, not just the bike the tuck is the last part you can tuck as much as you want, it your not going forward, it's useless so yeah, it may be scary, but jump forward! Przemo
Hello .. The palet is in there just it easy to save "ass" and Bike because. It is hard to do it this trick without palet . After some of practice of course i will take palet off
Kenny--Trials
I used have that same problem, i could get the height but i couldnt land it...but my mate told me to pretuck my arms and it helped alot. This technique is different for some people but i find that if i ride slower up to the obsticle then try and whip the cranks round quickly its easyer for me but by mate finds that going fast is better. Just experiment. Also, have you learnt to frenchie yet? I found that as i went to frenchie something that high, i would go to do it, get scared, and pullup early. I did it first time. P.S. On LiamN's video, watch his knees as he throws them forward. Edited June 9, 2011 by Kenny--Trials

charliemod
You will nail it soon enough if you keep practising as much as you are now

You áre having the same problem as him, you go quite slowely and only towards the end you accelerate. man your jumping backwards , you want to jump forward onto the object. Just bloody hell jump forward damnit, youve got loads of height to work with. This man speaks the truth! This isn't really the best example since I could have used a little more speed, but my run up is at one constant speed. You can also see that I'm thrusting forward like TRA mentioned.
