Duncy H
When you refer to getting someone to do it I guess you mean powdercoating? Find a place to do it near you and they should give you a rough price as for how much it would cost, at a rough guess i'd have said about £75. However a cheaper and quicker way to id might be just to just grab a few rattle cans and do it yourself, it's quite common and if you put the effort in you can get a good result. Here's an example of my marino and in the past i've done this to an echo. Mr westlake is always coming up with some funky stuff via rattle can, here's an example. Kwizera Simon
If you are going to do it yourself then, 1.Make sure you have a place indoors. 2.Rub it down well before hand. 3.Go easy with the coats. Lots of thin coats are better than a few fat ones. 4.Let it dry fully between coats. 5.flat it well between coats. 6.Have fun.

And get a heat gun, they are relatively cheap and will mean you can do it in a day and not a week. In my experience, a good hairdryer works pretty well too but I'd definitely recommend spending the few quids.
Wingerz
Sorry to steal the thread but i thought theres no point starting a new one for a couple of questions 1. Do you need a special type of spray paint or is any that says it works on metal okay? 2. Do you put anything on top of the paint after its dried to protect it from scartches ect? You can use any general spray paint like from Halfords. Make sure you get a good metal primer and use a few coats of lacquer to finish it off. REMEMBER DON'T TOUCH UNTIL IT IS DRY! Dan_Trials
There's some good instructional videos on Youtube, often seeing some one do it can teach a lot more than loads of writen explanations. If you go searching for videos, don't worry about it being specifically a bike they are spraying, the basics still apply.
dann2707
Etch primer may be more suitable for raw metal.
isitafox
The nearest powder coater to me does bike frames for £35, may be worth giving them a bell as they'll take stuff thats been posted and ship it back http://www.gariebevancoatings.co.uk/GarieBevanCoatings/Contact.aspx
