Good Chain Tensioner?

curry :)

Recommended Posts

hi, sorry for the bad picture but that is the tensioner i have on at the moment but the chain has just broke so i took it to my local bike shop and they said that i could do with a trials specific tensioner for it as this tensioner bent when the chain snapped and maybe a spring one with one cog rather than two they said? Could anyone tell me which one would be good to get? I have looked on tartybikes but i dont have a clue which one would be better for me than others? Also i don't want to get a really expensive one as i haven't been doing trials long so it is likely i will probably break it again not too long in the future.

Thanks

Also the current tensioner is a shimano one with 2 cogs.

What size rear cog have you got? If it's a 15t then get the standard, and when you fit it make sure it's tucked right up near the chainstay and then you should hopefully avoid hitting it!

Ah ok i get you thanks a lot!

It depends on your rear sprocket. 18T and higher I would go for the long one, 17T and lower I would go for the standard one.

It will take knocks better than the one your are using no as it's simpler and more solid. Also being less bulky you will probably find you won't catch it on things as much. But I would suggest trying your hardest not to land on it if you can help it :).

EDIT: beaten to it.

:D chears! Where does it say what size my rear sprocket is.... im learning, slowly :P .

I'd get the the long version if I were you, I recently bought the standard version to use with a 15t sprocket and it has to be angled away from the frame so that the jockey wheel clears the sprocket. Have a look at Mark's bike to see how it should be done.

Thanks! That looks good on that bike! :o
