Just watched the news and they talked about a cantor owner who lost a bag with ~150k in it. It fell out of the boot of his car as he was driving it to the bank. The bag was found by a pedestrian who returned it to the owner after reading a notice in the papers.

This made me wonder. What would you do in a situation like this?

It's a tough one. Sat here now I'd say I'd return it. But under the right circumstances I would keep it.

If there was a story about it in the paper etc I think I would return it just in case I got found out which would be likely. But if it was a random non labeled package with money inside that'd been there for a while I think I'd keep it.

Assuming it's cash (not that it's likely to be anything else) then it's all mine. I might anonymously return the bag, because that's what I do with wallets. It's surely known that if you find a wallet, the cash is yours and anything else is out of bounds?

It's difficult. I voted to return it, and I would.

I do remember though finding a wallet on the pavement, and it had a drivers licence in it, about £50 in cash, cards, etc. So I thought f'ck it, he lives near here, lets take it back. The guy barely even thanked me, just looked at me, took the wallet and shut the door. Did make me think whether or not I'd do it again.

If i returned it all, i know that in the future ill run into a problem where i need some money and ill look back at it and kick myself. :P

Some bad people in here IMO. You know nothing at all about this money bar one very important fact. The only thing you know about it is that it isn't yours, it belongs to someone else and you'd be stealing 150k. If that 150k was on the street, how is that any different to if it was on the roof of someone's car? Or inside the car? Or in a locked briefcase connected to their genitals? It still has the same level of "not yours".

as much as I would like to keep it, I think I would return it, £150,000 is a lot of money, people will notice that you are living a more luxurious life than you were before, if you put it in the bank people will ask questions, if you keep it as cash then you are taking risks by walking round with large amounts to pay for stuff plus it looks suspicious. Then there is the CCTV, not knowing if the police are on to you, I think I would get pretty paranoid.
