arw_86
torn between gettin a phone on a contract or getting a sim only contract and buying a phone. what are the best phones to use for internet browsing and very importantly facebook etc. i just like the idea of finding info easily using the internet on my phone etc. dont wanna spend shit loads, so kinda rules out iphones i guess. tesco mobile have offered for £50 a htc wildfire or blackberry curve on a 12 month contract at £20 a month. like 750 mins, 5000 texts and 500mb internet. so plenty (is that enough for internet?) but i might be going traveling again within the year, so unsure if i want a contract. giffgaff offer decent deals on sims and are month by month, which appeals, but then i will have to fork out 150-200 for a decent phone suitable for internet use etc. a hald decent camera and video function wouldnt go a miss either. any help would be appreciated. ps - are other smart phones as easy to use as iphone? my mates have iphones and can just whack pics n vids straight to facebook etc which i really like the idea of. isitafox
If you want a decent smartphone then go android. Look on ebay for samsung galaxys or HTC HD's are pretty good as well, and android versions of facebook and stuff is virtually the same as the iphone. Luke Rainbird
I can't really complain much about my iPhone, especially as I got it dirt cheap as a handset only, but I've been very impressed by both my dad and my brothers' HTCs. Dads got a wildfire and Chaz has the Desire HD and other than the HD a little large they're both a great bit of kit. Can you check/try out a few of the android offerings at a phone store? Probably worth having a good play with some to get a feel for things. Hunt around for bargains, but I doubt you'll go far wrong with any of the popular smartphone manufacturers out there now
Carl-H
I had a HTC HD2 and it was terrible! Font get a phone that runs windows mobile it crashed at least 3 times a day! I got rid of it on eBay for £250 and bought a 2 week old iPhone 3GS for £280 and that's what I'm typing this on. I've had all sorts of phones and nothing has ever came close to this. Its jailbroke too so everything is free including Tom Tom sat nav which is just as good as a dedicated Tom Tom. It does everything I want it to and more! Only thing it's missing really is flash support I can't think of anything else I'd want to change. Since I bought it over a year a go it's crashed once. That's it. Never tried android though and they are suppossed to be as good if not better and you'll probably get or cheaper because they don't carry the iPhone status (which is one thing I hate about iPhones lol) Carl
Fish-Finger-er
tesco mobile have offered for £50 a htc wildfire or blackberry curve on a 12 month contract at £20 a month. like 750 mins, 5000 texts and 500mb internet. so plenty (is that enough for internet?) but i might be going traveling again within the year, so unsure if i want a contract. yea but if your 8 months in, you can either pay the remaining £80 and cancel it, or just let a family member use it for the 4 months for free. if you spent £200 on a phone, and you get a sim only deal for £10 a month, over 9 months thats cost you £290. if you spent £50 on the phone, then £20 a month for 12 months, thats cost you £290, so if you stay more than 9 months your saving money, if not, its costing you more(but if a family member could make use of the contract once you go, you can probably recoup the lost cash). also if you dont ruin the phone, itll be worth cash at the end(but thats with either phone)
TrialsIsHard
go android, software is quality and it's not apple.. so you are free to put music on and off it to computer As for contracts or not, i would reccomend looking at Gif Gaf sims. They do quality Sim only packages https://giffgaff.com/orders/unlimited-web?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ps-brand&utm_term=gif-gaf
LukasMcNeal
Check put vectone for a network, I found these the other day they use tmobile signal and do bloody good deals! Something like £15 30day contract unlimited texts and Internet and 100mins, which is ideal because I never ring anyone!
crashbanggg
For contracts, look at Quidco and you may find some awesome deals. My current Orange SIM only contract has cost me £10 for the entire year. Unlimited texts and 300mins. Contract costs £10 a month = £120 a year Offer of £110 cashback from Quidco £120 - £110 = Pure Win.
