Bills for a 1 bed flat

How much do bills tend to cost for a small, 1 bedroom flat? Electricty and gas, don't have to pay council tax as I'm a student so I'm exempt. Just wondering what other people pay?

Reason being, viewed a flat today and I could just about afford it, assuming the bills would be about £100. Hmmmmm...

For mine, trying to remember back to when it was just me so less was being used:

Electric & Gas combined - £35

Water - £30 (paid quarterly)

BT - £35

TV License - £12

I think that's all there is without council tax, but I've probably forgotten something!

Danke, so it's roughly what I thought. Taking into account my phone contract and broadband, I'm looking at £75-100 a month.

I could just about scrape it, but I doubt it's worth it. I'd have £75 a week for food, and any extras. (Clothes, computer stuff, travel expenses, going out).

Sigh. Sigh indeed.

As a student I'd definitely rather live somewhere shit and have some spendies than the other way round. I'm not a student, so having a decent place to live is pretty important. Enjoy yourself while you can, worry about decent living once you've got the decent income that goes with it! (Y)

I took all of what you said into account, thought about it carefully, then signed on the flat anyway. :P

If you want filling in elsewhere JD, I'm happy to. Just don't fancy posting such personal things on a public forum.

Just to add to this, I'm quite mangled so probably ignore my ramblings...

My last flat cost me £325 a month, then £75 single persons council tax, then every quarter it was about £200 on bills. Looking at it like that I should have been alright, but somehow I got in debt and had to sell stuff.
