You can only certain video file types onto imovie. Hope this helped, they are fun to play on aswell!

Duncy H
My dad has an original iPad, I'm actually using it to write this, however I only tend to borrow it on occasions when my laptop is down like now. For surfing the tinterweb there isn't really anything better. Its great cause it's just the write size and has an immediate response unlike the laptop where you wait an age for it to turn on etc. As for lack of flash I never really notice the lack of it, there is the odd occasion but nothing particularly frustrating. With regards to vimeo I have never been blocked from anything or the likes of what you described. Using safari I have accessed every video I have wanted through vimeo. However that is on the actual site. If for example someone has embedded a video on t-f it will not appear in the post, to get round this you just have to got to vimeo yourself and find it. In terms of disadvantages there is the obvious lack of comparability, and the loss of a lot of features that you have with a pc. Well I suppose if there isn't so much a lack of, because with effort and most cases money you could get apps/software/accessories to get you on your way with what you want to do but you lose the ease of doing things that you get from a pc. However to run an iPad you ideally need a pc to run it for the iTunes and updates etc and as you say you've got yours. I haven't used iMovie sorry so don't have any knowledge to share. Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to quiz me about.

I'm a big fan of apple products and only use macs but that statement is absolute bollocks. An iPad is absolutely nothing like a laptop and is certainly not a replacement. Fish-Finger-er
+1 if you want one thats like a laptop and a tablet, the dell inspiron duo is awesome, i used one aswell its pretty cool woah woah woah, bold overstatement there, i saw one, wanted one, got hold of one for an hour, and wanted to throw the twirly screened, jack of all trades, master of none at the wall. I can only assume the jack that knew all the trades they were basing it on, had severe learning difficulties, and only 1 arm. Seriously I really liked the idea, but it was awful, the experience was akin to using a £150 netbook for the laptop, and like using a cheap £90 chinese tablet. The technology in it was all good in theory, but in practice, the touchscreen was really buggy when used on anything but solitaire. (for example i had music playing, msn open, and was browsing photos and it all took a good few seconds to respond. only none apple tablet i really like the look of is the asus eee pad transformer. only advise i have, is i really enjoy using them, but do find there not all that after a few hours, unless youve got a train/bus based commute, or have loadsa free time at home. the novelty wore off, and i realised just how little use id probably get out of one. Matthew62
That's an even more crazy statement. That thing looks like the biggest pile of shit to ever grace this planet. Some plastic-ass-purposefully-fall-apart-windows-box-of-shit..... i'm alrite thanks. Weight up your options and decide what you want....laptop or mobile device. Back to the iPad2. Yeah i got an iPad - it's wicked cool and always fun to use. For purely browsing the web and entertainment based stuff it takes some beating. It's a lovely way to interact with the internet and personally i've never found the flash issues, well an, issue. Some of the airplay features of late have make them good fun like being able to stream your entire iTunes collection to your ipad over a Wi-Fi network - saves on storage and good for watching movie clips, mobile music etc. Airplay with AppleTV is also a very nice aspect to them. However if you're going to be doing a decent amount of video editing etc and want some form of computing power then i wouldn't get it if i were you. After a year or so of having mine i really feel the need to be able to compute on the move. I'm a graphic designer and have been aquiring more freelance work of late so my needs now suit that of a MacBook as i'd like ot be able to work on the weekends whilst out an about, and when i'm home in the evening i don't always want to be tied to my studio where my desktop is. My iPad will now be going over to my girlfriend and i'm looking at getting a laptop instead.... My point to this story is that really think about what your needs are and make a decision based on what you want from the device whether it be an iPad or laptop...... Could always consider a MacBook Air.
isitafox
You wanna get a dell streak 7 matey. There's a guy who mods the software for the streak 5 phones and he's well renowned for being banned from almost every Apple shop he goes in for taking his 7 in to compare and absolutely raping the ipads performance wise! Android is king!
