Azarathal
Edited as I have a new question! Anyone else had an issue with the Echo TR rear disc hub? Mine just doesn't want to go into the drop outs :/ Heya guys, Just bought a Comp2010 frame off of someone on the forums and I've encountered a problem. The person I bought it from forgot to put the little silver "moon's" for the tensioner in the box(he's going to post those off tomorrow though) and I was wondering how badly they're actually needed? I don't want to ride it if it's going to damage the frame in some way but if I can do without I will do. TL:DR Do I need the little silver "moon's" Edited May 26, 2011 by Azarathal
LukasMcNeal
I assume all they do is push the axle and keep the tension bolt in the centre, don't see why it wouldn't work without them
Matt Vandart
I didnt bother with them on my Limey 3
Azarathal
Thanks guys, I guess when I get them I'll put them to one side. New problem though, my Echo TR rear hub just doesn't want to go into the dropouts :/
Mark W
As in it's too wide for the rear end spacing on your frame? Or as in the axle's too 'fat'?
LukasMcNeal
Are the bearings fully in the shell? On mine when new they weren't so the spacers were pushed out a bit more so they didn't go in. If so lightly tap them in enough so you can get the hub in the drop outs then tighten the axle bolts which will push them in all the way
Azarathal
As in it's too wide for the rear end spacing on your frame? Or as in the axle's too 'fat'? I think it's a combination of both to be honest. Am I right in assuming I don't run snailcams?
Mark W
Thing with the Comp frame is that it isn't a 'real' 116mm spaced frame like most other mod frames, so with the TR being a 'real' 116mm spacing (with snail cams), it's going to be tight getting it in there. You might just have to take a snail cam out and run it on the outside of the dropouts (so you can still space the axle out enough to not bottom the axle bolt washer out on the end of the axle before the bolt's fully tightened). EDIT: Bad timing from me You might have to run the cams on the outside of the frame to space the axle out enough. The actual diameter of the axle should be right though unless the dropouts on your Comp are a little crimped in for some reason?
Azarathal
I thought that because of the tensioner built in you didn't need cams at all, although if what I'm getting from your post is correct It'll mean that I'll need snailcams so my axle bolts don't bottom out? Mark W
Probably, yeah. I mean you'll be able to tell by looking down the dropout and seeing if the axle is either flush or sticking out wider, past the edge of the dropout. If it is: Snail cam it up. If it isn't: You win. I'd be surprised if you don't need to space it out a bit though...
Azarathal
I found the problem, the inside of the dropouts looks like it's been squashed inwards so the gap is narrower that it should be. I'll try file it down.
